Hi Peter; There are 77 community areas in Chicago. Each community area may have more than one neighborhood in it.
@PeterNicieja Жыл бұрын
Good point. Other than Andersonville, I mostly stuck to the broader areas.

What are your thoughts on the HOA costs and the outlook moving forward?

Edgewater is getting expensive... And rightfully so. I've been up here for 20+ years now and the price appreciation is amazing. Latest sale on our block was for $1.43M. All of the neighbors are shocked. Thank goodness I got in when I did. I will have to leave when I retire but I will honestly doubt I will never live on this great a block ever again. The people here really are amazing and make it a great place to live.

Edgewater is still fairly reasonable. Rents and prices have risen steeply everywhere in every city.

Rogers Park exists too. It is the only truly beachfront living neighborhood in all of Chicago.

I have lived in East Lakeview for 20 years, and I would live in any of the neighborhoods mentioned. Along the lake, generally speaking, the further north to south you go until you hit the Michigan Avenue area, the more pricey it is going to be. 2 areas not mentioned: Buena Park (a little pocket of south Uptown where I used to live) and West Rogers Park. Both of these areas are nice and certainly less expensive that Lakeview. Buena Park is right off LSD at Irving Park, so it is an easy commute to the Loop. West Rogers is a little more remote, but I have a friend there who is a first time home buyer that commutes daily to Lincoln Park.

How about Forest Park on far West side of downtown?
@PeterNicieja Жыл бұрын
Forest Park is technically a suburb, but it feels like it's part of the city. You still get great access to public transit and it's fairly walkable.
@MereAYT Жыл бұрын
Nice area but still really congested. The whole city is too crowded.
@dollarmenudave44234 ай бұрын
I knew you were going to stick with north side neighborhoods. What about south side? Beverly? Mt Greenwood? Pilsen?

good video, but as someone that was born on the NW side and lived in many neighborhoods on the north, west and south side, I'm wondering why no love for the south side. Hyde Park, Bronzsville, Pilsen, even south loop are all great Southside neighborhoods. I guess I'll have rot make a video showcasing these areas.

South side sucks big time !! I had a friend who got robbed at South side, another one use to say .. dont even dare going beyond Chinatown.. but I have been all the way to 95th even Walked that dark ally of 95th !!
@PeterNicieja Жыл бұрын
I considered adding in some south side neighborhoods like Kenwood, Hyde Park, and Pilsen, but after really looking at it, I just felt that the neighborhood I mentioned in this video offered more value. That being said, those are all great neighborhoods still.

@premchettri7170 I will never get robbed in those areas? Thank you. I never knew.

If a company is in Berywn is Lincoln park a good idea? I’m from Texas and planning on moving very soon
@PeterNicieja Жыл бұрын
It's not ideal. I recommend looking into West Loop, Pilsen, and Oak Park which will all have a much shorter commute for you.
@SFGal9 Жыл бұрын
You'll need a car. West Loop, South Loop, UIC/Little Italy area in the city. Oak Park is vibrant suburb. Forest Park is becoming a fun, yet still affordable little suburb, too.
@larrybyrne44676 ай бұрын
West Loop is where you want to be. You can take Metra or the El to get there

Out of 77 community areas he only saw fit to mention those on the North Side and downtown. Pilsen, Bridgeport, Brighton Park, Ukrainian Village are working-class, but just as livable with small businesses, Chinese, Mexican, Greek restaurants and bakeries. And the South and West sides have no snob appeal presented here.
@PeterNicieja Жыл бұрын
Yes, there are many fantastic neighborhoods on the south and west sides that I didn't mention in this list. I talk about some of them in my "underrated neighborhoods" video.

There are much better options outside if Chicago. Especially if you are moving to Illinois because of work in another city outside of Chicago.
