Singers singing well is one thing. Bassists playing the bass well is another thing. A singer singing and playing the root notes on the bass is yet another thing. A singer singing exceptionally well and simultaneously playing the bass exceptionally well, without any compromise on either, is Jason Scheff.
@williamfarrar32093 жыл бұрын
As a Bassist and front man this is right on point. it's difficult to start but when your brain finally turns around it becomes second nature. I work as a hired gun bass guy and front with guitar for myself so I get the fun of playing both sides of the beat depending on what I'm holding.

Idk why everyone is hating on Dwayne bailey this was in 1992 and completely relevant for the time. The band changed with the times as any successful band would do that has been around for decades. Dwayne is an insane guitarist. As a guitarist and former musician I can say it’s not easy to accomplish what he has done. I’m not a huge fan of his but can appreciate his skills.
@harolddasynth7957 жыл бұрын
Dwayne is a badass guitarist but he does'nt fit this band,he has rock metal approach that is not needed on Chicago songs,he's too technical for Chicago,not hating,i am a musician by profession for 20 yrs and i know what i'm saying,his bomb dives is so painful to watch....
@peanutbutterisfu3 жыл бұрын
@@harolddasynth795 I am a musician myself, I’ve played with famous bands, had songs on the radio, on movie sound track, interviewed on radio stations, plaid live on the radio, played massive shows, had publishing deal, I know a lot of people in the music business. We can sit here all day and talk about being a musician all day long but that means absolutely nothing it actually means less than nothing! You like many musicians miss the most important rule about music and not to be rude but it’s sad that so many people get this wrong! Wanna know what this rule is? There are no rules in music! The second you start to say there are rules like Dwayne “doesn’t fit the band” is when you start to ruin creativity, you make music that you think people want to hear, you think that you can’t put a bad not in a song a note that’s not in key, you think that all the vocals in a song need pitch correction but it doesn’t those are things that give songs attitude and character! You think a violin can’t be in a rock band because it’s not normal and nobody does it. A real musician says fuck the rules that’s just the truth and if that wasn’t the truth everything would sound the same. Being a “musician” doesn’t mean you know what ur talking about, fans are the ones that decide if a song is good or not never a musician. You might think that I am completely off topic but I’m not I’ve just met so many “musicians” that use the words “it doesn’t fit” and they are all the same and I can tell because you told me I know what ur talking about because ur a musician. You know the reason why Dwayne added the metal elements to Chicago? Because back then at the time this was recorded that’s what was in style Chicago wasn’t very popular at the time they were trying to reinvent themselves to stay relevant. The best thing about music will always be that there are no rules! You think his guitar parts are painful to listen to and I don’t I love it I think it’s great I love so many genres of music and I love when bands cross pollinate genres but that’s just me. One of the only things I hate is when someone calls themselves a musician but they play cover songs that’s painful for me to hear! I can’t stand when someone calls themselves a musician and they play in a cover band IMO ur not a real musician unless you write ur own music no matter how bad or good it is! Don’t have a closed mind with music keep it open! You can be a musician for 60 years and some 21 year old kid somewhere is a better musician than you and I put together. Sorry if I came off as rude that’s not my intent I just love music so much I take it personal

@@robertthames3421 I am only now (2024) discovering Dawayne, because I lost interest in Chicago when Kath died. Dawayne is great! He didn't try to emulate Kath, but nonetheless brought fire and inspiration back to the "guitar chair" for this band. Too bad he didn't last, and too bad for me that I never saw this lineup live. Song speaks to me. There's this woman "in" my life, and I feel as if I need her. Now I say "in" loosely because I only saw her twice since she left her bakery job. We chatted and connected so many times there. On her last day (Jan 2023), she said my coffee was on her. One day, I ran into her at the bar. We chatted, and I said something about her bravely coming out of her shell better than me (however I worded it) because of her singing karaoke during her first time here. Not long after, when she and her friends were singing again, she gestured me toward them and pointed to the lyrics on the screen. What's funny is I had told her I didn't like being in the spotlight during the said "out of shell" conversation. Not to criticize her action and encouragement! Just saying it's interesting and I'm wondering about her motive, perspective, and if it could've meant something. But perhaps not. I'm starting to wonder if she has a boyfriend. I saw her last night at a different bar. I pretended I didn't see her in the dancing crowd, she noticed me (I think after I accidentally bumped into her), put her hand on my arm to get my attention, and said hi. It was a very brief talk, given the dancing and loudness. So of course, I did not ask for her number or to be my date at this swing dance next month (I was considering doing so if I ran into her again). But it's not just that. She was with a group of friends, and one of them was a guy she talked with. He _could_ have been her boyfriend. What would be the signs (aside from kissing, obviously)? Let me hear your thoughts and questions; I'll reflect their moments at the bar.

Dear God🙏♥️💕 in heaven, I come to you in the name of Jesus. I acknowledge to You that I am a sinner, and I am sorry for my sins and the life that I have lived; I need your forgiveness. I believe that your only begotten Son Jesus Christ shed His precious blood on the cross at Calvary and died for my sins, and I am now willing to turn from my sin. You said in the bible that if we confess the Lord our God and believe in our hearts that God raised Jesus from the dead, we shall be saved. Right now I confess Jesus as my Lord. With my heart, I believe that God raised Jesus from the dead. This very moment I accept Jesus Christ as my own personal Savior and according to His Word, right now I am saved. Amen.
