You gotta go to my old neighborhood, Bronzeville. The bronze statue of the brother with the suitcase at 26th street depicts the Great Migration from the south. Beautiful brownstones, small businesses and great restaurants! Thank you for putting in the work, Gemini!

The old guy here. My brother and i went to Southside when we were in Chicago back in the 70s. We took the train that runs down the middle of the Dan Ryan. Don't remember exactly where we got off at somewhere in the southside. I still have a picture of a rental store sign that said Rent a Soul Brothers. You know, man, I've walked the streets of just about every major city in the country more than once, and I've never even had a bad word said to me! Hell i still have a Black Panther newspaper i bought off a Black Panther in Detroit in 72. Been around. It's nice you're showing this. People don't realize you have got people from all walks of life in all kinds of neighborhoods across this country who are just trying to survive like everybody else. Are there bad sections? Yes. That's everywhere! In the little city where i live south of Cleveland, our crime has always been higher than a lot of larger cities for decades.

Thank you for showing this area. I've lived in so many areas of Chicago.. however, not much on the Westside. I don't know why it's so exciting to see these familiar areas. But we look forward to these videos, and we appreciate it each time you upload.

I’ll be honest , I live in nyc and it’s interesting. I see so many parallels. It’s like Brooklyn, just less congestion.

The southside has lost like 400,000 people. These neighborhoods are 30 to 40% of their historic peak populations so its nowhere close to bustling. Plus hundreds of mid & high-rise buildings were torn down. The south side used to be more of a concrete jungle.
@hyemuhyemu8221Сағат бұрын
The North Side is more like Brooklyn. South Side has gone through ALOT some parts are barely keeping their head above water
@hyemuhyemu8221Сағат бұрын
@@stitch6157Also keep in mind there been alot of historic riots where things were burnt down and the city never rebuilt it, for all the bad reasons you can think of. If something like that happened in Downtown or North Side, it would recover within a week
