You are a healed person sir, with great understanding of how your dad was raised not being able to express himself, but you know that he loved you. ❤

26:07 is a great question. I think about this a lot. How should you address sexual assault with your children?

I agree, but you can never tell who would even do these type things, and then it damages the kid. I was in this same situation with older guys, but one was a pre-teen. I could not tell my mom or dad, because I did not want my dad to wind up in prison. It was 12 of us... I did finally told my dad, b4 his passing not my mom, she passed 11 yrs b4 my dad. It just make you not trust people to the fullest. The Love that my mom and dad raised us in covered it all. 1 Peter 4:8 King James Version 8 And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins. (Love)

That’s what’s so important is the knowing of the waste of time , mental fatigue that comes with racism. You just want to say leave me alone.

I still have pain from childhood abuse... but not the abuse as much as eventually mustering the courage to tell my mother and her telling me it couldn't have happened because he was an Naval Officer.

@@jazzbirdbecky I'm sorry, Becky. Parents should care for their children. Over time I've forgiven my mother her humanity and frailty. I don't need to carry that pain anymore. Godspeed, my sister.

A fascinating talk. As an occasional reader of his column, Mr. Blow's thoughts on race and society were somewhat familiar already, but I was surprised by his insights on parenting and sexuality. Thank you for this.

I listened after the Blanchard opera was performed at the Met. Interesting.

The last two questions were weird as hell …. Great interview ….. I think a lot of people are bisexual but , we all came from a women and a man and I know that’s ole school talking but it’s a fact. More people should be comfortable with their sexuality. The ones in the closet , are the ones who can’t live their truth. Again, Charles Blow is the man and very intelligent. Plz read his new book - the Black Manifesto.
