What a sweet and inspiring man he is. I've fallen in love with Mr. Petit since seeing "The Walk" then "Man on Wire". His zest for life and his views on many things is so uplifting and makes one think differently about many things. I love his attitude about teaching children. I agree with that. Too much we instruct children how to be instead of allowing them to experience things on their own terms. Bravo Mr. Petit.

His comment on ending with a victory is so true. I have always done this since i was little. If I am playing computer games, or shooting free throws, practicing a song on my bass, I never end on a failure or a miss, or loss. I always try to end in victory.

Interview at 18:16 - Petit: "When you find a big wall, when you find a door locked, right?, don't give up! Learn how to pick a lock!"Interview at 18:40 - Petit: "So you can use lock picking as a metaphor to NOT to give up, and to always find a solution and sometimes the solution has to, you have to sneak into a little fissure of imperfection of the wall that has fell in front of you." Interview at 18:55 - Petit: "And I can assure you ALL the walls have their imperfection." In other words, "All obstacles can be overcome if you simply refuse to give up".The more I learn about this man the more I admire him.

What is true art? Phillipe Petite is, and what he did in New York is ART! Phillipe Petite, one of my hero's, a man with an art form that is indescribable, truly profound and graceful beyond imagination. This man walked on a tightrope across the 2 world trade towers that were in New York, which is now "ground zero". Some may think he was crazy to do so, but I think it was true art in its purest form. After coming down from his walk on the rope, the New York police and journalists kept asking him the same stupid question "Why did you do it?" why? why?, there can be no such question, such a question is totally unnecessary and meaningless to ask. It is like asking a great mountaineer why he wants to stand on top of Everest, it is like asking why did Angelo paint his works of art? Art has nothing to do with "Why" it has more to do with the fact that it is there to be done, and more to do with the human spirit and what we are as humans, and what makes us human. When Phillipe Petite walked across the tightrope strung between the world trade centre, he became art, ART in its truest sense, in its most purest undiluted form. Even to their eyes the stunned onlookers, from way below, knew that something graceful and remarkable was taking place way above them, something extraordinary, something that made their hearts leap with utter amazement and with joy. I wish I had been there to witness this great man doing this. This man is the epitome of what humanity is, he is the man that spits in the face of death with a smile, and still lives to tell his graceful and elegant tale. I cry with tears at his art, and what he did in New York, why do I cry? I do not really know, tell me??

Could I ask a question? Philippe mentioned in this interview about a time he realised that when he was juggling, he was utterly focused on that activity only in order to be the best. I was reading Paula Radcliffe's autobiography. Paula won the London marathon 3 years in a row in a time of around 2hrs 15mins. In her book she talks about how she was training for this incredible feat at the same time as being at University. She said that she KNEW she was going to get a first class Honours degree because she knew that she just had to put in the hours and study hard. She achieved that goal. So Paula was focused on TWO massive goals at the same time and she achieved them both. Philippe seems to suggest that focus on ONE goal makes you the best at that particular thing. What do you think?? I would be interested in your experience/ feedback...
