Damnit, when someone is committed you cant interfere like this. That is how psychiatric disorders work, they are lucid and rational until they arent.
@wschippr1
@wschippr1 5 жыл бұрын
8bennaboo Actually, most western nations have provision exactly like that to combat psychiatric holds. In Canada, once you are held for a certain point you have to have a hearing to determine competency (and it has to be repeated). Doctors get things wrong and, especially in this case, there was a conflict of interest.

If you've watched the show, they talked and laughed together until she was forced into being admitted by her father hence why she got a bit angry. The fact that she never had any episodes in the psych ward is really crucial because the reason why she goes into her episodes is thinking that there are rats in her walls. That was the trigger considering how it's mostly quiet in an isolation cell .. she was better off being treated in there than at home

It really is. I have schizophrenia. And right now im managing it well, but the times i cant are hell. One of the tools i use is reality/fact checking. Where i ask someone i trust in the room if they are experiencing the same thing i am. And when they say no, its helpful because then i know i probably need to take my meds and check in with my therapist soon. But at the same time its really fucking scary. Because when one thing isnt real, i start to question if anything around me is real. But its still important that i fact check. Because then i can get help

OK, 3 things: 1. Psychiatric wards can suck sometimes, I know, I've been there, but they are often VERY necessary. 2. No doctor should treat immediate family, even if they are right about diagnosis/treatment. 3. How did Rhodes make it through medical school without learning that sometimes, symptoms can disappear and then reappear? That's not even a psychiatric thing, that's true for a ton of conditions.

Both were wrong, as both were biased. Although Dr. Charles was a mental health professional, doctors are advised, often forbidden from treating their family members as they cannot make impartial decisions, ultimately not being able to provide the best care. He should've asked a colleague to deal with it, which also would have made a legal challenge impossible.

Gasssolo except that in this case she was very clearly psychotic he might not have been the one treating her in the psych center but he could admit her. There is no bias in his diagnostic sincr both what dr rhodes told him and the behavior he saw were clear indications of psychosis.

I hate how so many people think they can handle their, or their loved ones' mental issues as if they are just a small hurdle in the way. Take phobias for example, so many people think phobias are the same as fear, not understanding that it is a DEBILITATING fear. Telling phobic people to "just get over it". Mental issues are so complex that we barely know anything about them now let alone 100 years ago. So what makes you an expert?!

9:23 I expected from Dr. Charles a more constructive argumentation than a mere "I told you so, this is your fault"... for example, using this event to convince Rhodes to hospitalize Robyn again. But I guess he was feeling emotional since it was her daughter. Rhodes' behaviour evidences how even a surgeon can make biased decisions towards other fields (like psychiatry)... still, I'm disappointed he didn't try to get a second opinion (the psychiatrist would probably back Dr. Charles up) before going nuclear with the lawyers.

People don’t like family but yet want to fall in love and be happy and have one of their own. Takes a village to raise a child especially if they are vulnerable.

I have to side with Rhodes. I left a psychiatric ward tremendously more damaged than I was when I went in. Most people who get locked in there are not psychotic

Dr. Charles is essentially everyone's therapist/Psychiatrist. Always taking care of everyone and always putting their needs before his. Let me ask you this, who is his consul? Who is there for Dr. Charles if Dr. Charles is there for everyone. Btw, just a thought I had. Not a full on supes serious question.

Listen, even if I didn't believe that Dr. Charles is essentially wisdom incarnated, I wouldn't bet against him just based on his track record. Rhodes should know by now that second-guessing him almost never ends well.

For anyone who think Dr Charles is a saint who should never be questioned, sorry to break it to you, but he’s not. I’ve been marathoning the full episodes on DVD and here are a few things that this video doesn’t show you: 1) Robin WAS seeing an other therapist and was being evaluated about her condition (Reese and the other doctor that the lawyer mentioned in the meeting. 2) Daniel Charles access Robin’s medical files without permission and try looking up Reese’s notes. 3) Daniel stole Robin’s keys and broke into her apartment with permission. Dr Charles may be saintly, but he far from a saint in this circumstance. We went around people’s backs and protocol just so he got his way.
