Brother, when I first heard Some of it was true, I almost didn’t like it but somehow it really grew on me and now I love it! Menzingers are just great. After 10 years or so of listening to them, I finally got to see them for the first time ever this year… one of the funnest shows I’ve ever been to… If it’s up to me, I’ll never miss another show lol

The Menzingers have become the band I listen to the most now! They got me through everything from heartbreak and death in the family to heroin and poly drug use addiction and getting clean. I've seen them live 4 times and have been listening to them since the Chamberlain Waits! Fantastic fucking band!❤

Mike thanks always for supporting this band over the years and helping me discover some great related music in your channel. I saw them at the opening show of their 2023 fall tour when Some of It Was True came out. It was then i knew that this was MY band, the one I'm going to cherish the rest of my life. All of their LPs are special and a little different, which is great. I think their latest LP was loose and pumped full of energy, perhaps missing some of that special storytelling, but I'm impressed they continue to tour and record after all these years

yes, they've been amazing live every time I've seen them

I just recently got into The Menzingers (after having listened to the song After The Party for a couple years) and I have to say that their first album and their latest album are both amazing. They are nothing like each other but their peaks are very high. I listed to Try almost everyday before work and it makes it feel manageable. Great video btw!

try is awesome! My favorite anti work song is Can I pay my rent in fun by BTMI

I've really been enjoying your content since discovering your channel. You seem like a nice, chill dude who would be cool to hang out with. Not gatekeeperish or pretentious like many others. And have great music taste.

I definitely think The Menzingers earned their chops in the punk scene especially being signed to epitaph at the request of its Founder but you have to understand the punk scene here in philly (where I grew up with both the Menzingers and The Wonder Years being our hometown bands) the punk scene is very different than in somewhere like LA or NYC because so much of our music scene comes from the college campuses and house shows and less from clubs and small venues and its been like that for quite a while. I also grew up down the street from the planned parenthood in the after the party music video.

Great video about a great band! Really liked your delivery and pacing. I'm gonna come and reprimand you for not giving enough reverence to Chamberlains Waits though. It might not have had the same broad impact as On the Impossible Past, but there was still a pretty serious buzz around the band when that album dropped. It felt to me like this perfect kinda mashup of early Against Me! and early Gaslight Anthem and there was a lot of chatter about this being the big new thing and the name The Menzingers kept popping up again and again on Punknews around that period. It's still kind of weird to me that it just kind of became this forgotten album after OTIP dropped despite that album being a solid 9/10 on it's own.

lol everyone has defended Chamberlain waits. I think I was born was the first menzingers song I ever heard. I think it was on a warped comp

Thanks for making this video. This is one of my favorite bands after The Gaslight Anthem & I loved all their albums. Sadly you didnt touch on the acoustic album From Exile. 😢

This is awesome! listen to Menzingers when I was on Junior High School, and start to like em on my high school years until now.

i grew up just outside of scranton and eventually moved to philly just like them. they hit so so hard, so much to relate to. bad catholics might be a silly song but it looks exactly like the catholic church bazaars that happen every summer in north eastern PA, full of old polish recipes and polka music. theyre such a fuckin awesome band

lol that is perfect, it 100% mkes me feel nostogic of their relationship for some reason. They nailed a feeling I don't even know about.

Great video. I unfortunately agree with you about their most recent album. I know it will probably be another 4-5 years until we get a new one but I’m hoping it will have a little more life in it.

I love Some of it was true. I appreciate the fact that they tried (haha) something very different by leaning into their hard rock influences.

Great work, enjoyed watching the video. Definitely loved your enthusiasm and I hope channel will expand quick. Also, would be awesome to see video on Brand New. Imo they stand ex aequo with Taking Back Sunday in matter of influence emo/alternative scene in '00. Even though the end of their career wasn't that what fans would like to witness, I think, they still earned status of one of the most influential bands that time. At least they definitely stand out from other bands.

I have no clue why people call The Wonder Years pop-punk. Their music is much darker and more musically complex than that stuff. I think it's more accurate to call it Emo. TWY sound more like The Used and Taking Back Sunday than Blink-182

Sadboi Pop Punk is just emo mixed with pop punk

Chamberlain Waits is their best album and its not even close. Theyve had plenty of good songs on later albums, but none of them are as cohesive as that one. Rented World was so bad I stopped listening to them until After the Party came out and redeemed them. Great live band regardless.
