Martin's Yamato has been making rounds across the From the Depths community as they try to make such a large ship actually viable to use in the game.

Martin has made serious progress in his knowledge of this game, and indeed got exceptionally lucky that the Scarlet Dawn didn't share a border with him. My last run ended with the Grey Talons, Twin Guard and Steel Striders ganging up on me. When an Empyrean (massive flying airship), Hysteria (Gravitas's little sister), Kobold (another massive flying airship) and Tyr (big ship slightly larger than Large Male), decided to work together, I got steamrolled. For my ship designs I was using. I was using the Heaver (16k resource transport helicopter for logistics), the Famas Squadron (86k trio of planes for scouting and intercepting), the Riptide (240k missile frigate), the Wavebreak (540k cruiser with hefty APS) and the Pulveriser (1.15 mil battleship/carrier hybrid with a squadron of missile bombers). Nothing really on par with the Yamato, my PC would die trying.

Ah yes, when you get so mad at the enemy that you proceed to build 2 super battleships and completely decimate them, and their allies

Reminds me of the Japanese campaign for Battlestations Pacific which eventually turns into alternate history. It's actually is very cool, sad we never got a sequel that dealt with the western naval engagements in the nordic sea or atlantic. Also you can tell Martincito doesn't know how bouyancy works, all his ships are half sunk with only the top surface and command structure above water.

He actually did the barely above water thing on purpose. Happened to catch a segment of the stream where he talked about the water being the best shield there is for most weapons so the lower you can sit the boat in it the better.

@@Syntex366It makes sense since most common weapons like APS, CRAM, lasers, plasma and missiles will target above water. However, while water is the best shield, it's now more vulnerable to torpedoes. Evasion is now more difficult due to being in water increases drag. And some weapons (like Particle cannons) and modules (Super cavitation) can negate this advantage.

I do that too, on Purpose. Have pumps in the ship to control buoyancy and then make the AI in a way that the deck is just above water, so weapons that get debuffed or straight up can't go underwater just sh*t themselves and die. While the Ship is only using about 50% of it's pumps capacity in terms of buoyancy so it has reserves if some chambers get popped
