the planet will still around if we end up messing stuff up and kill ourselves off. One major new milostone for humans would be when we establish some form of colony on another planet when its talk about saving the planet, we saving the planet its more about maintaining its current state to keep it habitable for us and other life, if we ruin it for us like atmospheric changes etc, then thats us and life screwed, but the planet will just be with a new atmosphere whatever it is
