About Sseth taking "a corporate position." He used to work in immunologist at an unnamed pharmaceutical company as a legacy hire (his parents had worked in the same department) until he heard a story from his dad about a coworker of theirs who jumped out of a window to his death. He then realized that working in corporate sucks and now he does KZbin full time. He actually made a presentation about cancer while he worked there, and he did a stream a while ago going through it in a PowerPoint.

Sometimes you can hear in his voice how disturb he is, (or I guess the term mentally scarred would be more fitting,) and I can relate to that. It's one of the many things that attracted me to his videos.

There was a bit more to that story than just a sudden epiphany. He slowly got fed up with how ruthlessly corporate medical research is and started to feel like he can't make the world a better place if he stays. The guy was an idealist once.

This game is probably the most arcane and difficult games to get into. all the other games you have reacted to his videos on are much much easier to get into. Dwarf Fortress is old, unwieldy and non user friendly. Its also awesome as hell. Dont delve too deeply or greedily

I really didn't have a hard time getting into the game at all. I just read articles on the DF Wiki, followed a quickstart guide, and then it was smooth sailing. DF is one of those games you can play when you're not actually playing it. You can let your mind wander and plan how to set up a textiles industry, work on figuring out how to build aboveground defences, etc.

I came from the future to inform you - Dwarf Fortress got released on Steam, with improved UI, reasonable graphics by default, and even a tutorial. So you should definitely give it a try. It still requires having wiki opened on the second monitor, that's kinda part of the game at this point.

The "ᚨᚱᛗᛟᚲ" is actually Armok, God of Blood in game's universe. It's actually in the full game's name - Slaves to Armok: God of Blood, Chapter II: Dwarf Fortress. The first game was more of an RPG, but with the same concept of being very in-depth. Also, judging by the description given to Armok in the game's mythology, he might represent the player - it is said that Armok loves the constant fighting, chaos and conflict, hence why he creates worlds. And when they become too boring, destroys them, only to start again. P.S. "Losing is Fun!" is actually a game's motto, emerging from the fact that there is no end to the game aside from, well, losing your fortress in the most crazy way possible. Which, usually, is quite fun

Armoc. It's apparently misspelled. Should be ᚨᚱᛗᛟᚴ (Armok). It's the name of the God of Blood in the game lore. Though I don't remember if there are other gods or not. This seems to be the Unicode rune alphabet btw.

It spells out "Armok" The name of Dwarf Fortress is actually: Slaves to Armok: God of Blood - Chapter II: Dwarf Fortress. Armok, as you might have guessed, is the god of blood, who created the world and all its inhabitants, if he were to grow bored of the world, he will unmake it upon the anvil of creation. Armok is kind of sort of meant to be the player character, the fun of dwarf fortress often comes from losing, because having an extremely successful fortress that can thwart any force from conquering it doesn't generate an interesting story, therefore losing is fun, and if you don't have fun, you remake the world into something more fitting.
