Yeah Robert McClure's great. He does a really good job of making the puppet look real. He doesn't need to do alot to totally have me convinced.

saw it in london in sep.2007 with the original kate and co, and it was priceless. the show has my kind of humor mixed with the things i love about musicals...

where did you find the whole musical? I'm 13 and this is THE BEST musical i've ever seen! It's hilarious!

@robertlagestee no, they meant the original BROADWAY cast. john tartaglia, rick lyon, jennifer barnhart, you just can't beat them!
@janekrahe14 жыл бұрын
@Angie2343 That's because they were originally unsure about whether UK audiences would know who Gary Coleman was, so they changed to character to just a guy named "Gary". But fans protested and the character was returned to Gary Coleman, but they kept the man they'd cast to play him.
@triggerua15 жыл бұрын
I got to see this on brdwy with the original cast. I think it is funny how they cast people who look like the originals even though that really isn't important to the storyline. Great show!

Actually Avenue Q is not dead. They announced that it is going to be moving off-broadway to new world stages. It starts preformances October 9 and tickets are already on sale. YAY! (I said yay cause my favorite characters are the Bad Idea Bears!)
@FranMSK16 жыл бұрын
I sort of see your point, but I think these days children are learning about this stuff faster. And I actually think Q handles these topics really sweetly and smartly. If my 9 yea-old was curious about this stuff, I can't think of a better enviroment to learn it than Q.

O_O THAT'S THE CAST I SAW YESTERDAY! Front row center too. ^_^ Only Kate, Gary and Nicky were all understudies, or maybe the Kate shown here is an understudy, i dunno. They were all awesome, and I practically fell in love with the guy that played Nicky and Trekkie. (I also saw it in Fort Worth, by the way)

@SpinneyBigBird109514 жыл бұрын
I haven't seen this cast, or the touring production itself, but what I don't like about the videos shown HERE is that the cast don't give the puppets the larger-than-life, exuberant, flamboyant personality that I think the puppets deserve to have, seeing as they are PUPPETS and don't have to be realistic. Like if you compare Rick Lyon's (OBC) Nicky with the man who plays Nicky here, Rick's is much more loud and big-movements. They are puppets, so i think they are allowed to move not like humans
@homie41316 жыл бұрын
Gary Coleman was a women in the Orig Broadway Cast and was AMAZING!! I read in an Ave Q book my friend got me that they were going to try to get the real Gary Coleman to do it, but he refused. Which I think was dumb on his part. But oh well. That would have been HILARIOUS!
@blackdog3914 жыл бұрын

rob doesn't change his voice when he does princeton because when he isn't the puppet he sounds the same
@RatherStrangeCat16 жыл бұрын
That was the whole point in the Broadway version. They changed the actor to male for the UK version since it was presumed that UK members wouldn't know Gary Coleman that well, so the idea of him being played by a woman wouldn't be as humourous.
@muppetlover1613 жыл бұрын
@SpinneyBigBird1095 David Benoit, to be exact, he looks kinda like Tyler Bunch and his Nicky/Trekkie sounds like Kevin Clash, listen to 1:46-1:48

@FatHellsBells Dude, they didn't "change" him to a girl. The character is still male. He's played by a female because they needed someone short with a high-pitched voice. Same reason a woman plays Peter Pan on stage.

@janekrahe A good choice in my opinion, because that's how I envision the real Gary Coleman if he didn't have his problems. A tall, handsome black man.

Well to get the fullest of all of the pints you need to have experienced them, a kid has not experienced so much of the theaters involves, so that´s one reason they say not for kids. And another is for there own safty, it´s violet laungish and could give kids bad ideas.
@xaLeXcRoMbIeX14 жыл бұрын
