Glad to hear Ron is doing well. I’ve had both knees replaced, my right hip and left shoulder twice. I’m scheduled to have my other hip done in October. The hip replacement by far was the easiest of all the surgeries. The shoulder was the most difficult, with the longest recovery time. Couldn’t start therapy for a month after surgery. I will say that without having these surgeries my quality of life would have been much worse. We enjoyed your channel so much. Please keep up the great content for everyone. All the best.

My wife had two knee replacements six months apart, in 2016. Went from constant debilitating pain, to pain free after healing. She is now what i call a knee replacement evangelist. When she sees someone with the characteristic limp, she talks to them about it. For her, it was literally life changing. To those who need it, get it done. It will make life better for you.

10-4 on the GOOD knee surgery!!! My wife had both replaced as did your wife. The docs were great, the hospital was great, all in all, the surgeries were a resounding success....this with her in her late 60's. She had no post surgery pain...the pre-surgery was absolutely horrible. Git 'er done!!! JUST RESEARCH THE DOCTORS!!!!!! They are the ones who can make or break the success of knee surgeries.

You are correct about the knee replacement. It's definitely a lot worse than the hips. I had both of my knees replaced at the same time & that was killer! I know, because I've had both of my hips replaced also! Osteoarthritis is a bad thing, but I'm so much better off now.had to replace my left shoulder joint as well. I had all of this done in about a 2 year time period. Good luck to Ron.

Glad Ron is doing well! I had a knee replacement done in Dec of 2021. I was actually fortunate. The first week was really bad, but after that it started getting better every day. By the end of the 2nd week I was on the tractor feeding the cows. After about 6 weeks I was almost back to normal. I'm considering getting the other knee done soon. I just hope it goes as well.

But i hear people out doing yard work I should roll my tractor out and spend the 15 min to cut the grass its only 8 to 12" long but if i do all the waters going bye bye and the grass will go dormant. Next month i need to put down 50lbs of grass seed and hope it rains a bunch. I didn't use any prevent crabgrass control this year but i didn't want to kill the clover. Its good for the soil.

Retired RN here. If you are looking for a place to rest, then I would suggest a war zone quicker than I would suggest a hospital. If you get a good night's sleep in a hospital your nurse screwed you. You are sick full time and we try to get you better full time which may mean checks every 15 minutes in some cases or one on one care where you don't leave the bedside.

@@wallebo Dad designed the op - the first one done used a motorcycle cylinder reamer, operated by the mechanics building London's prosthetics. Originally the implants were designed by surgeons, kept splitting out of the femurs on trials, so pa, the team's materials technologist, quoted Leonardo, "The body is a marvellous machine" to use engineering techniques, and slimmed everything down. The surgeons opened and closed, the techies did an engineering fitment, it worked, the surgeons learned engineering.

Important exercise for mechanics. Work up to side planks. This is a move we make on autopilot getting up and down under cars. This will put maximum stress on the muscles that were cut and spliced. I practiced side planks with PT before attempting it under a car. It's hard to remember certain mover are just not happening until fully healed. Just FYI I'm 64. Had two replacements and a recent revision. All good.

My Grandfather had knee replacement surgery on both knees years ago, one side first, then later the other; and it was a royal pain to get him to do his exercises before he had to go to physical therapy. It took telling him either he does them, or his knee that was done first was going to be getting stiff. And if that happens, it will be very painful as the PT will MAKE THAT KNEE MOVE! He started to do the exercises immediately without fail. The second knee surgery, well he didn't argue about the exercises. Stubborn old man!

I had both knees replaced in a matter of 4 months. It has been Life Changing!! No more pain and my quality of life is so much better. PT and rehab is a must. Don't try and cut corners. Also, get yourself an "Ice Machine." Called a Polar Care Cube and is available on Amazon. It basically is a Ice Bucket that has a pump and hose system that circulates chilled water to a wrap that goes around your knee. It is far better than Ice Packs was a great addition to my recovery. Ice is your friend. Secondly, you will be tasked and asked to get your knee and leg straight. A straight leg/knee is a strong knee. I picked up a 10 lb. bag of rice at the grocery store and when I would sit on my sofa and watch TV, I would prop my foot up on the ottoman and then I would place the bag of rice gently on top of my knee. That passive pressure helps push your knee into that straight position. Eventually you will feel some discomfort, so take it off for a while and rest. Later, put it back on and keep working that knee straight. Recovery is a process. Don't be discouraged. It takes time but every day gets better and better. Research your doctors. Ask Physical Therapists what patients that they see do well and find out who their Doctors are. Hope this helps. Ron, glad you are doing better and on the road to a successful recovery. God Bless you and your family.
