Chickens and FOXES! - Luma Island [4]

If you feed the non-luma animals they give you things in return (except for the rabbits). Just build a trough and put hay (aka grass) in it. The chickens give you eggs, the goats give you goat's milk, the pigs give you occasionally ginger and daily random fertilizers, and the cows give you cows milk. The fox will scare the chickens enough that they stay in the coop and won't deal with the beetles. A goat or you need to scare off the fox every morning. The beehive/queen bee is expensive but it is necessary for 6 of the crops (pumpkins, cocoa beans, potatoes, coffee beans, watermelons, and mangos) to grow. You need to fertilize and water your trees every time you harvest from them. The tops of them look pale when they need some sort of attention. Your back row of trees needed to be fertilized, they won't give fruit until they are dealt with. Love this game, but I'm stuck at the temples in the jungle. I don't have the speed in my hands needed for some of the rooms. Good luck!!

Omg Gab. I had the exact same experience as you growing up. When you mentioned how it wasn’t *that* kind of morning sickness, it brought me right back to one of the most awkward and uncomfortable experiences of my childhood. To make a long story short: I was in constant trouble when I was younger for always being late to school because I felt ill. One time they threatened to suspend me, and when I tried to explain to the vice principal about what I was experiencing, she told me I was pregnant. I remember laughing and thinking that she must be joking, but the woman was dead serious. I was sixteen. Hadn’t even kissed a boy yet. Needless to say, that was the last time I ever tried talking about my sickness to an adult until I was one. Anyway, I know you said it doesn’t happen anymore, but I would really recommend you looking into GERD (gastro-intestinal reflux disease) if you also experience seemingly random sensitivities to certain foods. Coffee, alcohol, and spicy or fatty foods can all be triggering to people with this condition, and all these years later, I am pretty sure that GERD is what caused my morning sickness as a kid. Glad to hear that you’ve also grown out of yours, but that doesn’t mean a diagnosis couldn’t help you in other ways!

wow, never thought i would read something that was so close to my own experience. i also have GERD, and while i completely get why doctors have to make sure the persons not pregnant, it's always so disheartening, even as an adult, to say what you're going through and the immediate reaction is "oh, you're pregnant, duh" and it's like?? no, im very sure im not?

So i had a similar experiance and mine wasnt gerd or stomache "issues" it was my sinuses were draining to heavily into my stomache during sleep so id throw up every morning from to much mucus. They gave me some kinda medicine for a month and no more issues...

@@grazyrj That’s true, but I also think that pregnancy is far too often used as an excuse for doctors (and vice principals!) to not take women’s health issues more seriously. It’s the easiest answer but very often not the right one, and misdiagnoses seem sadly all too common. Personally, I think this often stems from our assumption that these symptoms can only result from pregnancy, when the reality is so much more varied

Just a little tip: definitely explore every biome to the fullest, so you still have 2 more temples in the mountains and finishing the crystal offering. The crystals do NOT respawn so definitely go hunting for them. Love this series

My fave cosy games this year: - Echoes of the Plum Grove (super cute art style, farming in colonial America, illness and hunger included) - Little-Known Galaxy (a cute little farming sim where you are the captain of a spaceship and farm on the ship while traveling between planets) - Fields of Mistria (it's still in early access, but it's sooo good! Hopefully completed some time next year. It feels refreshingly unique for a farming sim and the style is beautiful) - Moonstone Island (creature collector card game, dugeons and exploration) - Luma Island (I like how easy it is to pick up and put down, no need to remember whatever plan I had when I last played and no time pressure)

Don’t put your power food in the feeder it will just disappear. I made the painful mistake of doing that and it was just gone. You have to throw it at them to get the luma energy.

You find the pirate's glass and the treasure hunting stuff in the small piles with the swords and telescopes sticking out of them, they are biome specific. Mountain piles for what you're currently working on.

It's always so fun watching you two playing this game. I've got so many hours into this game so far that I could be very useful if I joined your game because I have over 3 million in coins, almost 400 luma energy, over 500 of each stone block, several hundred of each wooden board and metal bars, etc, etc. All of my tools except the hole are maxed out. When I go into the mines, I bring several hundred jungle torches (they are the brightest and never go out) with me and light it up like Times Square in New York. Yeah, I don't have a life. Lol

You only need luma energy the first time creating something, afterwards you can craft the stuff just for the other ingredients, so if you got many stuff produced before you can make money by just over and over again create the older stuff.

I used to have that same problem with "morning sickness". Started in middle school, chilled out a little after highschool, but i still get it now and again (I'm 25). Never really went to get it checked, but my solution is the green stuff🍃. It turns my nausea into hunger, but i usually smoke enough just to balance it out 😊 it's helped me so much

I realised with the last video that I can totally watch this series, because I play so much slower than Gab & Eeowna... By the time I get to all this content I'll probably have forgotten most of the spoilers. 😂 (Usually having memory issues sucks, but sometimes it works in my favour.) Especially since there's just SO much to find on all the maps! 💚 Probably my favourite part of the game so far. This series is such a cosy chill time, I hope it will continue for a long time. Now if only I could get trough those temples as well as these two. 😅I guess that's just their Pro Gamer skills. Not sure I'll ever brave the Archaeologist profession if you really can't die in temples for it. 🙀 Edit: Ah, so it's not so bad! I mean five deaths still sounds hard for me, but not completely impossible at least. (29:50)

Re: the "My Time" games and the AI controversy, iirc that was just a misunderstanding / miscommunication. Some of the art "looked like" AI and the first person from the company to address it misspoke, which made people more suspicious. In the end, they showed the art drawing process to prove that the art was hand-drawn. The AI part was just using some tools such as what photoshop routinely offers to make the drawing process less tedious, iirc. I totally get the suspicion towards AI art, it's just unfortunate when rumors spread and the explanation doesn't in the same way. FWIW, they do have an explanation on the kickstarter as to why they chose to do it this way around again. I don't have a super firm opinion on this and think it's legit to question whether it's necessary, though ofc outsiders really might not have a good view into what it takes to develop a game like that and what the best funding strategy is for them - they aren't partnering with a big game studio after all. From my POV, me putting in 25 bucks into the kickstarter isn't that different from just pre-ordering the game, because I have sufficient trust that they'll deliver a game I will like after the previous two. It also gives you a few minor perks such as voting on romanceable characters. IMO the company has shown itself to be consumer-oriented and reliable, I really like all the changes they made throughout early access to their games, especially the quality of life features and added content. It's impossible to make everyone happy but they seem to have really tried.

If you want your fences to look even better, you can mix the different fences together and it'll look more "natural" or "decaying" Goats will shoo away the foxes so they don't scare the chickens from working :D

For anyone wanting to play this on a macbook, I was able to play it using a free trial of Crossover. It worked *almost* perfectly on my MBP - the only thing wrong was that the grass, some shrubs and the tops of the trees didn't load in. The ground was coloured but the wavy grass effects were invisible, some shrubs were only visible from their bases, and the trees were all in winter mode! But you could still pretty much tell where the bushes were and interact with them, and the tree mechanics worked fine for getting crops. Otherwise I didn't notice any difference at all, and it ran very smoothly :)

always use the hoe for collecting stuff because then you get extra crops/flowers/mushrooms etc. whatever you are harvesting/picking up :)

Yep, plus it's quicker as well (since you skip the 'yanking stuff out' motion) AND you can hold the button and then harvest more spots at once. It also removes weeds as well, I think. Very handy.

Love this game and looking forward to tales of the shire and also hawthorne. Just got the trex luma. Also when harvesting you can use the hoe and hold the action button to harvest multiple crops at once depending on the level of your hoe. Also, i always buy upgrade tokens from the mushroom men. It makes it easy to stock up that way I also hope this a long and lasting playthrough

Getting to the jungle biome seems hard because of the cost of the motor. But if you just make things from your profession and sell them in town you will have the money in no time! But remember to harvest your lumas every day as you need luma energy to build all of your profession items. BTW. At the top of the mountain there are plans for a villa. I'm sad that you can't build in other areas. I really wanted a mountain house! E-Dawg and G-Bunny together again! What is E-Dawg's PHD in?

I don't know if this is still true, but back when I worked at Apple I learned that, because of the strict rules on iOS, there's a bunch of stuff developers can't know. Due to this they have to develop things a certain way and then launch them, then flesh out any bugs that might arise. That's part of why iOS tends to come out before other things. It sorta has to always be beta tested by the community. There's a lot of proprietary shit that Apple has locked down that make things difficult for anyone outside of the company that wants to interact with their customers.

I'd imagine the cats and dog would count as lumas, since you had the dog in one of the luma houses, so you can put them with the lumas. I think Kickstarter in part is a gauge of interest as well but I could be wrong.

This game is so freaking cute. The only thing that bothers me about it, though, (and this is dumb and only because I'm a mail carrier, I am very aware of this fact) are the flags on the mailboxes. Why do they stick out the front? They aren't supposed to do that. They're either up if you have outgoing mail, or down and laying along the side of the box.

You know, I find it kinda funny that I've been watching you since your first Stardew Valley playthrough, and got interested in the game because of watching you play it. And i just recently 100%ed Stardew myself. (At year 5, but hey I did it) but here we are again with you playing a new game like this, and after 2 episodes I finally decided to get the game for myself... and this says nothing about you and plenty about me that I blew passed you and beat the game already. (Not 100%, but i saw a "The End" screen) Given how long it took me I would estimate you are about 2/5ths of the way through the game. Do I need to touch grass?
