17:04 That little worm you removed from the leaf was a hoverfly larva. As you said earlier in the video hoverflies are really useful. Not the adult flies eat aphids, only their larvae do. I made the same mistake removing them, because I had no idea what they were. Great progress so far mate btw!

You often recommend to pick flowers if we want more green growth. What would be a good time to stop that and let the plants go to flower? I live in Germany, so my season should compare to yours.
@ChilliChump Жыл бұрын
If you have the time, then continue doing it until your plant gets to the final size you want it, or when you have about a month to 6 weeks left of your season. But personally, I stop around the end of June, because it would be a full time job otherwise.

Baie mooi shaun. Im starting my seeds on 1 aug here in cape town. I have small greenhouse setup(2.5mx5m) that i hve been using for about 6 years now,however as you know summers are crazy hot for days on end hence my early starts and i take them out of the greenhouse in nov. I HAVE to get some turkish flower chilli,hulle lyk awesome om te groei. Mostly just grow lemon drop,peppadew,and a couple of the extreme hot ones. But i try and keep it simple and not overdo it like we chilli growers like to do haha its addicting.

Season looks like its going well Shaun, appreciate the updates - going awful here in Yorkshire unfortunately lol, think summer lasted 3 days and nothing but rain! I don't have a greenhouse this year as it blew down last year so they are getting overwatered by nature - just need a few weeks of sun! Praying for good weather and i'm sure they'll take off. Looking forward to following along some of your recipes again this year though - the one plant thats doing really really well is some Cayenne type peppers I grew from some dried peppers my in laws brought back from their holiday to Portugal, not sure what type exactly they are but they grow pointing upwards and are typical cayenne shape and size.
@ChilliChump Жыл бұрын
Thank you. So far so good! Still a good few months left though! We had a good few weeks of heat and sunshine. I'm guessing it didn't make its way over to you? The chilli you have is likely a hybrid cayenne. Hopefully it's a tasty one for you!

@@ChilliChump Thanks for the reply Shaun, unfortunately the weather didn't make its way over here but I think I was just spoiled last year by fantastic summer weather! - 2022 was the best season to date. You're right though, plenty time left, I just need to exercise a little patience, growing our peppers, especially the chinenses and slow to ripen baccatums certainly teaches us that :) The Cayenne certainly looks tasty and its super productive so far, grows very fast - will definitely grow again, i'll let you know how that goes.

Garden looking great. This is my first year growing multiple pepper plants, size-wise they're doing well, and getting a lot of flowers now. @ChilliChump Жыл бұрын
At this stage you should be fertilising. There are only a couple growing months left. There are many factors that can impact where you are with your growing. Pot size, soil mix, watering schedule, fertilising etc.

Hello, why is adding a calmag not always a good thing (you are mentioning it around 9 min)? I am adding it relatively regularly when watering.
