So beautiful! Before my nephew was born I started a tummy-time quilt for him. He's 12 years old now and all of the blocks are still sitting in a bag in my basement. Maybe I'll finally get around to making them into a quilt! When you mentioned the SU flower die that you've used before, it made me think how pretty a Christmas quilt would be with the snowflake die!Thanks for sharing!

I have done both outline like here and then zigzag, this is actually big enough to put interfacing on it and turn then you have no raw edges. Great job. I just made one of these but make every other quilt blank, and also turned them at different angles. So cute and great job. Oh by the way this is a great quilt to do QUilt as you go. Just add the backing to the top and put batting in the middle and quilt then add strip with backing behind it and add batting in the middle. So simplw

I love butterfly quilts but I think when I do mine I will either do a blanket stitch as I don't like the raw edges, they fray to much in the washer and dryer and I want my quilts to be used. Your quilt is very pretty and I appreciate your showing me how you do yours and how the Go machines work. Keep on quilting!!

thanks Deborah!! Will you use the blanket stitch on your sewing machine?

I've been watching your paper crafting for a while but not come across your quilting until now. My husband bought me a Bernina quilting machine a few years back (did make a quilt at a class and then another at home alone) but have not used it as should do to it's full potential (which is shameful of me, think I'm a little nervous about it). I can see that you use a Bernina, have not caught up with all your sewing tutorials - but wondering do you give an overview of the machine also? I find watching and the learning process via You Tube demonstrators far better than paging thru an instruction manual (not lazy just forget things easily). Thank you to you and everyone who shares their amazing talents with the rest of us.

Nice quilt. I would add one caveat: when cutting out shapes from pre-cuts using a die-cutter, be careful to set the directional fabric facing UP (as opposed to what you did with the tulip fabric square in your second cut demo, where the flowers were facing down). It's the little attention to detail that makes a nice quilt into a splendid one.

Does the long armer go around each butterfly or does she quilt overtop of it all, butterflies and background and all? Just wondering.
@chicnscratch Жыл бұрын
She doesn't go around the butterflies.. she just quilts over the top.

How did you decide placement of butterflies on the layer cake pieces or was it random? Thank you for the tutorial, I appreciated the explanations of why you did each step a certain way.

The edges are going to fray terribly. It's ok if you don't want the quilt to last long. If you satin stitch, blanket stitch or even just zigzag, it will last longer. The long arm quilter will have to quilt quite densely to help keep the butterflies on. It is so pretty, I just think if you took a little more time to secure them, it would make your lovely quilt last longer.

I'm too short to use my knee lift. I need a new chair or a new desk for my sewing machine.

I always wanted to quilt. My mother1-in-law is very good at it. She made this Irish quilt for my husband and I. I wanted to make something for her but didn't know how. This is perfect. Thank you. You make it seem like it is possible. Can you show me where the finished product is?
@chicnscratch7 жыл бұрын
Do you mean a picture of how my longarm quilter finished it? I don't do the actual quilting myself, I give it to my longarm person and she does the rest.
