Players: we hate how the chief can sit hull down and farm for the entire game WG: we nurf the gun. all they needed to do it change the copular to the Tier 9 Chieftain P and the problem would be solved. since it no longer has a pixel shot weakspot, the gun only stops players from playing the tank not solving the issue at hand

Still annoys me that WG named it the Object 279(e) when it should be named Object 726. Also, one of the designs for the Object had it mount an E5-style machine gun turret/cupola, and I think it would have been interesting if they reworked the model to give it that cupola but stronger hull armor. Theoretically could have fixed the armor problems it has in Tier 10 games and Tier 8 games; stronger hull protects against premium rounds while cupola gives lower tiers a weak spot they can actually pen from the front.

the thing is, 726 was the name given to it because they further developed the 279 to a finished product. earlier it was called the 279 early. wg is not entirely wrong in calling it that plus they were thinking of adding by the 726 name back in supertest

They should not nerf but fix the matchmaking ... put same class and same tank with same number of skills ... number of field modification , same tier , close to same number of game with the tank in the matchmaking ... etc and you will start to see good game with normal time not a 2 min game with a score of 2-15 or 15-2 etc..... Wargaming does not care of how matchmaking works.... and dont mention.... well the pool of players etc ..... if you only have 10 tanks that match well do a 5 vs 5 .... just have a 15 max tanks match but no minimun ... You will stat to see game with 14-15, 15-14 with a 15 minutes time .... and they should stop to try to make new contents..... fix the game , and after you can add things.... The way it is right now is bad, new players just die because they are facing tanks with 5 crew skills and player with 90000 games . Because the matchmaking is not taking in consideration all the facts...... Could have like 0-1000 games , 1000-5000 games , 5000-20000, etc etc .

Unless you consider that as part of "gun handling", which it is not. Chieftain has an excellent gun handling btw (0.14/0.14/0.11 dispersion factors + 0.35 base accuracy and 2.1 sec base aiming time).

i like to call the chief now a chief p with more alpha ever since i found the nerfs. The reload is identical and pen is almost identical now. only difference is now the smaller cupola

And the chief p is worse than phase 1 so that means chief only has more hp armor and speed because of the tier, decent nerfs but the 279 one wanst enough well at least if you dont have an jag in your team

@@joaoguilherme9034 the 279 couldve used a bigger mobility nerf, cause the thing is, a lot of things with 280+ pen will autopen them as soon as the 279 angles a slight bit. the thing is, many tanks in wot are only good against -2. so if wg decreased the traverse for example it would allow tier 8 tanks to outflank it and get its vulnerable side. like max said, the armor profile is fine, its only dumb when youre facing it head on as a tier 8.

23:54 you can, it's a 50/50, I've penned several times with a T30 which also has 320 pen, your shots both went low, so it wasn't really the penetration that was the problem (on the first 2 shots), but the derpy gun, I'd say it's still an easier choice than trying to snipe the cupolas which are much smaller and harder to hit

Do you think the changes mean the chief coming back in one way or another? Like next cw campaign reward, set of missions like 279, bond store or trading caravan/auction event? I think the changes were made so people wouldn't be so outraged when they decide to make it obtainable again...

Not sure tbf, maybe they will put it back into rotation for the clan wars rewards. It wouldn't be for a new campaign mission like 279e though, that is for sure.

I can imagine some auction of assembly shop event where you need like 50K bonds and 100 million credits and other stuff like free xp and blueprints and gold to get it.

@@lanelesic they cant add it via assembly shop as the assembly shop tanks are a special kind of limited number tank which shouldnt be sold again except for maybe the black market i.e the obj 780 and lion never making an appearance in any shops since release. the chief should stay a reward as far as im concerned until they mayeb replace it with the mbt b and the chief being no longer available until they add it to the bond store which wouldnt be a great idea

Why isn't anyone talking about how broken these tanks are in CW? in the last CW, teams stacked with chiefs and 279e were dominating the games..... they seriously need to address this or at least reintroduce tank locking so that this cancer can be controlled!!

I think for pub games this nerf doesn't affect both tanks much because strong point of 279e has armor that is still strong to people who don't know how to pen it and chief is hull down potential if you don't relocate to a better position to flight probably have same problem just they will get into position slower than before, But for CAMPAIN this nerf affect so much (at least for my servers play style) sorry for my bad english

The problem with these two vehicles wasn't the shell penetration, it wasn't their health point pools, frankly it wasn't even their mobility. The armor is the issue for both of them: T95/FV4201 needs a bigger cupola model Object 279e needs weaker hull armor or a bigger cupola weak point. I have not experienced any change whatsoever with these two vehicles, sure they're a tiny touch slower to get into position but the thing that makes them so OP wasn't touched at all. Chieftain is still a S-Tier hull-down beast that basically nothing shy of arty can do anything to, and the 279e still doesn't have a viable weak-spot on the front aside from loading up high heat pen tanks to hard counter it by slamming HEAT rounds at it nonstop. Edit: Either touch the armor, or remove both tank's ability to see lower than tier 10. Tier IX pen is barely able to in most cases and tier 8 pen is not enough unless the Chief/279e player is dumb af and shows full rear!

@@durachoks IS-7 has an underplate, Maus has 260mm turret cheeks, Pz VII has a side scrape weakspot and an underplate that is easy to exploit, E 100 has an underplate, flat sides and flat rear. 279e doesn't even have an lower glacis weak point, the cupolas are tiny and really only high skilled players or tier 10 players with big premium pen can deal with. Regular tech tree tier 10s have weak points you can clearly see and exploit given your knowledge on how to get a good angle. 279e's weak points are only really exploitable when you have a gun with extremely decent-to-high penetration, of which 97% of tier 8 tanks do not possess, The biggest reason why the 279e gets so much hate and is called OP is because against -2 tanks it's literally impossible to fight unless you can manage to get it's rear, which is not always an option. Tier 10s at least have the option of firing high pen AP/APCR/HEAT that can just plow through the armor or at minimum give and advantage where lower tiers would have a 0% chance of damaging. You can bring up any tier 10 tank and any tier 8 combination, outside of preferential premiums and I can tell you exactly how to counter it or at least get angles where you can reliably penetrate and deal with it, the 279e on the other hand, the best advice for anyone who isn't in a high penetration tank, is just to simply ran tf away and hope your team mates can deal with it. It's unfair to have -2 tiers fighting something they literally cannot beat unless the 279e player is a tard

I stopped playing WOT for the simple fact that the majority of the matches are just too unforgiving. If the MM kept matches to +0 and +1/-1, it would be more enjoyable. As those matches last longer, and you can actually play the game as intended. If its +2/-2, the matches just get overblown with the top tanks and good players yolo pushing the lowest tier tanks in the match. Not to mention tier 8 is super saturated with premium tanks that are downtiered tier 9 tanks...

I have maintained my position regarding +2/-2 as a bad idea. It should be +1/-1. Wargaming need to address clan wars desperately and have a mode somewhere between that and random battles that works. I've played clan wars. The problem is lack of variety in tanks and it can easily turn into a full time job. Not to mention the amount of waiting around that can occur or multiple battles that happen at once which you can't fulfill.

Problem on these tanks not a single point its complete pack, if you got more armor than super-heavy armor u need to be slow, if you got no visible weakpoint u need to derpy gun, if you got stable gun you need slow traverse speeds, exc. for my perspective latest nerfs irrelevant.These are competitive-challenge tanks i get it but balancing is not that hard like obj. 260

Tier 10 reward tanks that can take years of mission grinding to get should not be at the same level as other tier 10 tanks but much better or else why bother with the grind, where's the value? The obj279e is now for the most part is equal to the Maus in armor and pen values but will take you 2yrs of grinding to get unless you hire a boosting company. I don't have the 279e or the Chief and never will cause I suck at this game, but I disagree with nerfing these into normal tier 10's, too much work required to get them.

99% of players don't care if you 1% have your pixel toys nerfed. Those things have been killing the game for years slowly. They also single handedly ruined clan wars. and ranked battles (until recent). The day WG properly adjusts pixel tanks like these will be a few months prior to going out of business. Only the owner of WG can be held responsible for his stupid business choices and provide answers as to "why" he has made the choices he has. It certainly wasn't out of any legal concern; you can't sue a video game developer for changing the stats of pixels that you're renting. you don't own them.

The Chieften is better and more dangerous than the Obj 279 e. You penetrate Obj very easily. Plus the cannon before was very imprecise. Now it's sauerkraut. 🤮 Chieften is still very good while Obj takes the life of the player who plays it.

I think the biggest nerf of the 279e is the premium pen. It no longer can pen tanks such as jagpz E100's cheek, E100, Maus. Fucking T57 heavy is now orange

Not really, you only need roughly 295-300mm of pen to smack through the JgPzE100's superstructure, E 100 is roughly 310-325mm, on flat ground that's an easy pen Maus' turret face is still 260mm so that's an easy pen, and T57 is full green vs a 279e's "nerfed" gold pen. What you smoking?
