I have the BMW Chigee coming soon. I do hope they eventually add the cameras to the BMW one as that is a great option (especially the blind-spot notification).

@@Freddels1 unlikely as you would not then be able to detach the Chigee from the mount as you can’t carry the video signals over the rear connectors, would need separate wiring 🥹

@@chrispitman1169 I have an unlimited data plan so not something I’ve monitored. If you’re music is already in your phone that won’t use anything (make sure your bike playlist is downloaded in Apple Music). Nav will use some but it’s not much. You can also download the route in advance on MyRouteApp which I recommend in case you lose signal!

google maps uses about 1gb for every 200hrs of navigation. apple music uses 1gb per 8hours of streaming (but you can have offline songs)

@@andrewscott8950 I would recommend Waze - uses about a third of what Google Maps does (www.statista.com/statistics/1186009/data-use-leading-us-navigation-apps/#:~:text=As%20of%20October%202020%2C%20the,0.23%20MB%20per%2020%20minutes.) although they may have improved their data efficiency since this test. This shows Waze uses 0.7MB per hour or about 1,500 hours of navigation per 1gb

Does siri activate every time you press the indicator button if either on nav or tft? How would that work if you had ezcan lights fitted which also works off that button? Zooming in and out of maps is by pressing the indicator button on the relevant icon rather than scrolling in and out? I think the bmw ride nav still might be a better nav? Plus i dont use appleplay so dont know, phone battery drains a lot with it?

@@lambo2817 One for me to test - will let you know. I don’t think it does call up Siri when the indicators are running or I would have noticed. Phone battery seemed fine but I run the phone plugged in when on the bike. I don’t have an EZCan so can’t answer that question sorry.

Hello, I have a BMW 1300GS Adventure and installed the Chigee system for BMW. I’m having trouble controlling the volume of calls or music-it sometimes works, sometimes it doesn’t, or it reacts with a big delay. Is this because my phone is always connected both to the bike and to the Chigee system? And please, which button activates Siri? I don’t have a cancel button.

@@gabrieliface1350 yes it is, I would recommend disconnecting your BMW from the phone. CHIGEE doesn’t control volume though, your headset does.

Why can't I see the BMW Mottorad app on the Chigee screen?

Because the BMW Motorrad app is not compatible with CarPlay, CarPlay devices (not just the Chigee) are not a mirror of the phone screen, they have to have apps that have been made to work with them. Many are, such as Waze, Google Maps etc. BMW could do it but prefer to try and keep the user within the BMW ecosystem. Hope that helps.

I would like to ask if you have a R1300GS do you need to purchase the External Tire Pressure Sensors or it takes the reading from the BMW directly?

You need to make sure you have the AIO Play for BMW which takes it from the bike. The AIO 5 Lite connects to the CHIGEE sensors.

How was the battery life when using the iPhone via Car Play with the chigee? My son used to use his iPhone running My-Route navigator and even on charge after about 6 hours of use the battery would be flat.

I had my iPhone on charge in the tank bag whilst running it and after a whole day when I got off the bike the phone was 100%. I'm on the beta program for MyRouteApp and then do a lot of updates, battery usage with CarPlay has obviously got a lot better. The USB socket I was using was only 1A as well.

Would have liked to have had this, but cancelled the Kickstart as the voice control is not working with Android auto as yet, according to Chigee.. Hopefully, they will get it working soon.

That's the trouble with Android, far too many splices away from the main code as they need to cater for thousands of different devices.

I’m going to check this the next time I’m out actually, I don’t remember being bothered by Siri so I have a feeling the indicator cancel acts as just that whilst the indicator is running - TBC!

@@andybcole Maybe it has something to do with how long you press the turn signal cancel button. Is it a longer press to access Siri? When I cancel my turn signals (on my 1250GS), I dont press the button very long.

I believe it can but it doesn’t work very well as everything is conflicting with everything else. You may get it to work but you may lose audio from the CHIGEE as the TFT takes command.

@@andybcoleyou can have it connected to the bike and the chigee (or any other carplay device) without any issues. The only gotcha is that depending on the timing of connect it might be that the tft ends up being the ‘audio device’ used for output. I have worked around that by adding an automation using the shortcuts app which switches output back to my helmet when it gets connected. Those same automations also put the volume to 100%. You can also do this manually by pulling down the action center and pushing the triangle with rings icon to select the audio output you want…

Had lots of electrical gremlins immediately after fitting one of these on my GS. Removed and bike is thankfully back to normal, so from me its a no thanks. Cheap Chinese fairground shit on a quality German bike..... 🤔 I should have known better.

@@GPR111 first comment I’ve heard of this kind. Some bikes do need a software update to play nicely with it though. Not really fair to blame CHIGEE for the German software not being consistent.
