You missed the point of the two way charging. This unit can be used to charge the motorcycle battery like a Battery Tender. There is a trickle charge mode and a fast charge mode for when you kill the motorcycle battery.

I think, having looked at one of these in the past, blue mode is to charge to motorbike battery

That's toggle switch for charging your vehicle battery using the lower port (if I understood the technician correctly.)
