For main camera, Pixel 6 is capturing photo with 50 MP and then bring it down to 12.5 MP for better image quality. It averages out 4 pixels in one. It's called pixel binning. That way file size is lower too and 12.5 MP is more than enough for a 4K photoshoot. Great review by the way!!

This is the 1st time I have heard about this! Everything I've seen says 50mp camera. What about using the 50mp when you want to crop a "zoomed in" portion of a photo & maintain the sharpness? Or to enlarge an image? 🤔 There's going to be some furious people.

My biggest con for my Pixel 6 would be that the big glass camera bar makes me super nervous i'll break it by accident otherwise I love the battery life, the screen size and speed of it. and the price haha

I believe that the 12MP limit using the 50MP sensor is caused by intentional "pixel binning" through the "develop" algorithms to improve noise ("grain") and whatnot. The 50MP is simply a way to create a better 12MP final image. The RAW files (in this case DNG) are the same size, which is the tip-off to what's going on here.

I bought my Pixel 6 (amateur, not Pro ) on Oct. 30 and am generally quite happy with it. However, there are a couple of annoyances and one problem. The annoyances are a) it's way too slippery. If you're not careful where you put it down, you may find it on the floor. Also, sometimes it's hard to remove from my pocket, as my fingers slip. b) I don't like the removal of the 3 buttons at the bottom of the screen. Those buttons worked far better at things like switching open apps. The problem has to do with devices connected to the hotspot do not get an IPv6 address, though the phone gets one. My previous phone was a Pixel 2 and with the same SIM and APN, devices connected to the hotspot get an IPv6 address. I have filed reports with both my carrier (Rogers) and Google on this. Has anyone else noticed this issue? My phone was $574 (CDN) from Rogers.

I absolutely love mine. I agree that lack of expandable storage kind of sucks, but I get why they're designing it that way. Google makes even more money if people are paying for their cloud service. Other than that, this phone is great. I haven't had any trouble with the fingerprint sensor personally. I like it way better than the fingerprint sensor on the Galaxy S9 which is what I switched from.

Great review, I have just bought the Pixel 6 and am extremely happy with it, already had a wireless charger so no charger is no deal breaker. When compared with my old Samsung S9 this phone is leaps and bounds ahead of that in terms of resolution and build quality. You get a lot of phone for your money.

I've had my pixel 6 for a few weeks and love it. The biggest drawback to this phone is the authentication methods. It would be great if it used face ID to unlock as the fingerprint scanner is pretty hit and miss. Great video! Thank you very much.

ensure you have the correct type of screen protector, i ordered the wrong one and for days i was thinking "the fingerprint is rubbish" then i replaced the protector and it works fine now, google has recomended ones which are best for the phone

I have been a Google device fan since the Nexus One. I haven't been this excited about a Google phone since the Nexus 5. I just got my Pixel 6 yesterday and I am very impressed. It's good to see Google attempting a real flagship in earnest. Hardware always seemed like an afterthought and something simply just to showcase the newest version of Android. Overall digging it.

The Tensor chip is a semi custom Exynos copy with off shelf cores. Was hoping google went all out but I guess they needed to undercut the other flagship in price. Not a bad budget flagship none the less. 2 X1 core setup was interesting, yet performance wise is unseen. The rear camera bump is going to be loved or hated, I could live with it only because I put bulky cases on all my phones. AI seems to be in a league of its own from my research. Pricewise the many flaws of this phone are worth the budget price.

I remember when i watched nearly every vid of a phone i wanted before buying it. Nowadays, I don't watch much about specs but i look for features. Glad you brought up important notes on like the adaptive display and camera. Nice feature that it lowers itself automatically rather than draining the whole phone. Other cons like storage for SD card aren't important much or gaming. i dont care much about those cons since I don't game and i use cloud storage more often for back up. I bought the pixel 6 cause of the color (Sorta seafoam) coming from the pixel 3. Great pros and cons video!

Had it for a day and I like it, but there is a big jump in features and behaviors for me. The biggest thing I'm working on adapting to from Pixel 2 is the lack of navigation buttons. I'm starting to get the hang of swipe control navigation, but it's extremely different. P6 is also WAY taller and heavier than Pixel 2.

I'm not a big gestures person either. I switch back to the nav buttons. 2. Once you get to Settings, navigate down the list and then select the System option. 3. After getting to the System menu, tap the Gestures option. 4. Inside the Gestures menu, tap the System navigation option from the list. 5. In the System navigation, tap the 3-button navigation option. This setting will replace the swipe actions with three buttons on the bottom of the screen.

What? Fully charged Pixel 5 will lose all battery overnight? I have a Pixel 2 XL for a bit over 3 years now and when I leave it with wi-fi, bluetooth and localization on for the night (about 6-8 hours) it loses about max. 10% of battery power. When I turn it off for the night and I turn it on the other day it is 2% less than before (probably only due to the process of turning it on). Btw I've never changed the battery in my Pixel, though maybe I care for my battery more than the average consumer (I don't leave it charging for the night, etc.). I really look forward to the Pixel 6 and I wander if there's any free time restricted google disk space for original sized photos like it used to be in other Pixels. It was such a life- and memory saver for photos... Does somebody know something about it in relation to the Pixel 6?

@@damara2268 not really, no. With my Pixel 2 XL I had unlimited storage until about march 2021. Then it stopped making original sized photo back-ups, what enabled You to clean Your phone memory without losing your photos. Now I'm sadly running out of phone space xD

My most used feature of a phone is the phone. I would like to hear more about that. How long it will last without charging is also important. A phone with an expensive camera that is not supported is a lost feature. Give me a good camera and drop the price $100 and it is a far better choice. I presume the pro version of this phone will pick up where this phone leaves off. Of course, I'm a senior and my use may be different than others.

I can tell you it is .. I upgraded from an S8 too. The finger print scanner is a little slow that's true .. but it's not a deal breaker. the phone is worth it because 1. it's buttery smooth 2. Display is sick 3. Great Camera 4. Just feels wicked these comments are based on the Pixel 6 Pro

I really appreciate this review. All the other ones I'm seeing either only look at the pro version which I'm not interested in, or focus on stupid things like the feel of the glass back instead of actual specs. You're review is the only one to mention the con about the camera not outputting 50mp photos.

I love my pixel, had Pixel 3 and now a 5. A few things I found a little annoying 1- The fact that after typing the pin (when you need) you have to press "enter". I miss how on my HTC the phone would just unlock when you press the last number. 2- Not having the power button texturized. A little detail that was pretty good. Now, it seem like the Pixel 6 will not unlock if the screen is off, meaning you don't have the clock on for example. So you'd need to wake the phone, then unlock with your fingerprint. That being said, I like how the Pixel phones with fingerprint on the back of the device will just unlock even if the phone is "asleep". I hope this change in future updates.

One thing that non one is mentioning is that Netflix and Amazon prime doesn't run full screen by default. If you zoom in then the scene won't have all the details, plus you loose the clarity. Especially on the Netflix.

my issues thus far... 1) battery life is bad unless I drop the refresh rate and move to lte instead of 5g, 2) sometimes I can't see all the open apps, so can't close then out so have to restart, 3) android auto randomly drops and it's not the cable or the car, and don't believe it's the phone usb since it does change, 4) when I bring up group txt chats via a search, the keyboard doesn't always pop up

Cons-so far the difference between charge rates with google pixel 18 watt charger and the 30 watt is 10-11 minutes for a full charge,android authority did a great article on this,max charge was 22 watts,then goes into same algorithm as 18watt charger after 50pc

After a few days my two cons are finger print reader often takes 2 or 3 tries. Also one of the key features I keep hearing about is simply not there.... the "tools" tab is gone which means I can't use the eraser tool that everyone is talking about. It's simply not there.

I had the same problem with the Fingerprint sensor. Since I increased the touch sensitivity and saved the same thumb two times, it is much better. The eraser Tool is there and it is quite good.

The lack of face unlock sucks, I work in a cold warehouse in the winter time and wearing gloves is kinda hard to use the finger print sensor, I was going to buy the pixel 6 but I think I'm going to stick with my Moto Z4 for a little bit, even my fourteen-year-old daughters $140 Moto G7 play has face unlock 🙄
