This was so informative. Thank you. My kids are 3 and 7 years old. I relocated to Scotland and here 3 to 5 year olds get 30 free hours of nursery which goes a long way. My husband is studying and I work a hybrid job, on average 1 day at the office and 4 at home which is a real blessing. There are much more hybrid work options available now after covid, its worth looking into it.

I think you should check the cost of childminders again. Because they are OFSTED registered, they are more expensive than nannies. because in London precisely, they charge within the range of £10-£15 per hour. Nannies are not OFSTED registered so not licensed and insured.

Myself and my hubby are both UKRN and we work full time( but I work 8:30 - 18:30, 4 times a week and compulsory weekend off )and we pay alot of money for child care(£77 per day in a Nursery). It’s so interesting how things are so different in the UK versus the US. I don’t know about the legality of it but I starting babysitting my younger siblings and cousins regularly when I was 11 or 12.
