The point XQC made about school and work giving you structure is SO true. It's really something that is so important. If you ever find yourself struggling, you should try finding structure or a routine you can stick to, even if it doesnt feel good at first.

I don't know if I would've agreed some time ago but after coming to Japan with my brother and working part-time for several months, it's very true. If you're depressed you really need some way to force yourself to be at least somewhat productive, ofc don't overwork yourself but if you're left alone you know you won't do shit so you need life to force you. Getting a job is one way to do that. I'm not severely depressed or anything but I do think I have ADHD and exhibit anhedonia, procrastination, etc.

I actually agree w x and what he says abt school and working. When I was forced to take a gap year due to covid I felt so useless without a job or a schedule to maintain, even though I was building an audience of 100k online for my art. When I got a job at a small coffee shop things became a lot easier for my anxiety attacks over being a waste of space, and now that I’m back in school I feel a lot better than I did a year ago due to a schedule and pattern I’m expected to participate in

I'd be cautious to put all the blame on these kids. It's hard to imagine their lifestyle. Most of these kids are forced into these roles by their parents and sometimes these parents are abusive looking at their children as a paycheck. Not to mention the abuse that can happen by the people who produce these movies and shows and basically have complete control over these children if they want to stay on the shows. There are many stories of sexual abuse that happens to child actors and there may be more that we don't even know about. These kids can be put in positions where they are wholly vulnerable and no one is protecting them, not even their parents. Hollywood is a strange, perverse place.

I hate how they portray Drake Bell's actor tbh. His wife claimed those things, but he was never declared guilty, and therefore it shouldn't be used to show he's a bad person. Because that would also apply to any and all accidental cases of physical assault, such as if you reflexively hit someone when suprised. If that was a case, people would be facing legal battles which would drain their income over minor accidents. If its something like murder, the state itself will automatically charge you.

America actually is much harder on crime than most countries but in cases like this, there are crimes that aren't worth punishing all the time. Sure, the prosecutor can go after the kid for assaulting his mom but if his mom doesn't want that then who are they helping? The police would just be making the situation worse by locking up the mom's son and labeling him with a serious charge that will prevent future opportunities if he ever gets better.
