I do not care what people say, I disagree with this stuff- a woman has her entire adult life to have spray tans and wear false lashes, one of the most beautiful things about children is their natural - and it is important in todays society that young girls know that beauty isnt just the outside and life isnt about that- this is instilling the wrong idea. Just my opinion but this is the future generation and I know a lot of young girls who think if they dont look a certain way they are ugly.

The problem is… here aren’t as many opportunities for adult women to compete in pageants, at least not at an entry level.

five year olds can't make descions like this. They are mentally uncabable. I can't be the only one to know this

+(My-Anne) I think a 5 year old can choose and enjoy being in pageants. Unfortunately most are forced and I think we can both agree that forcing a child to do a pageant is wrong.

The only issue I have with child beauty pageants is that the participants, who are usually female, are held to a standard of adult beauty. You have little girls marching out in bikinis and wearing more make-up than most adult fashion models, which I find a little disturbing. The pageants themselves are fine, but the adult standards the children are judged by rings of child sexualization to me, especially in glitz pageants. At least in natural pageants, the children look like children instead of the grown-up idealization of children.

I love how these little kids that have barely learn to use the bathroom alone are capable of "making decisions" like giving tyra a gift...let alone if they want to be in pageants

I got a spray tan of the exact same kind when I was 15 or 16 and it scared the hell out of me! The sound is horrible and you feel like you're being gassed (even though fake tan is mostly made of sugar) because you can't breathe properly. I can only imagine what it'd be like when you're that young.

why I am against pageants... 1. early upbringing in a attention dense setting brings the child to depend on attention for normal psych. 2. Waste of money, could be spent on college. 3. Why are the girls wearing pageant dresses if they are obviously not in a pageant. 4. You are teaching them that normal childhood curiosity and mistakes are not acceptable.(missing teeth, climbing trees, playing tag.) 5. The child is not fully aware to make these conscious decisions that will obviously have an effect on their future psych.

The candy rose part was added to start talking about the teeth flippers in an organic way nobody can change my mind. And to make tyra look good by being all like "oh I like your natural teeth with your gaps!" No way I would bring my child to the tyra show to have her rip apart my parenting

It's not a child's decision if the mother is subliminally teaching her daughter that beauty earns money and it should be valued higher than education,independence,etc.This is sickening. Babies wearing veneers and sexualized stripper-esque costumes. THIS IS WHY WE ARE BEHIND IN SCIENCE AND MATHEMATICS NATIONALLY. We teach little girls not to learn and form their own interests but to look pretty to win prizes and be wanted by boys. Moms are taking their children's childhood away and trading it for an adult image to fulfill their sick desires. This needs to change.

The only thing I remember when I was a kid, was playing with my friends, watching cartoons, and drawing. I only wore make-up once in junior high. I didn't fully wear make-up until I started high school.

I entered my 1 yr old in the Hawaiian Tropic Pageant in 2005 in which she won a trophy for "Beautiful Hair" with a $10 outfit from Walmart. She still loves looking at that trophy! That's the only one we've ever done & we had a great experience! The rules specifically stated that make-up NOT be used on the children & that they wanted them looking like real kids. Toddlers & Tiaras is a totally different type of pageant & I sure would feel out of place esp since our tans are ones we were born with.

I've said it on other videos and I'll say it again here. These girls are not only being taught that they need to be beautiful and that they need to win, but they are also being taught that their personality, intelligence, and talent is something they need to prove to please others. They will have a hard time being happy as adults without constant attention and positive reinforcement because they've spent their whole lives competing for judges who decide their worth as a person.

i usually don't like people like this tyra or whoever did the top model thing, cause when i listen to them talk about looking beautiful and stuff, they always talk about "well, it just looks better when...". they say they love natural beauty, yet they wear make-up everyday. so at first i was worried to watch this, but i'm happy to see that even she thinks this is too much and too young.:D that made me happy
@jonandkateplus81215 жыл бұрын
that was hilarious when they pulled out the flippers i love the show, but the parents are crazy. all of them say it teaches them self confidence and they love pagents. Story looks pretty with no makeup and light makeup, but looks SCARY with full makeup. I know all that was random, but yea!
@pageantcrazed2215 жыл бұрын
im going to do my first pageant in december and wanted to know if once you make the flipper do they last longer than one pageant~!!!!!

I think these beauty pageants are great. I was in pageants, and i want my kids in pageants. It makes little girls feel beautiful, you make friends, and unlike what most people think, they get downgraded for being too revealing, & they absolutely learn that there ARE other girls that will be better looking, and worse looking. & to realize, that other people see beauty in different girls. Cheesy or not, it's true. It's not as terrible as TV makes it look.
@Kimbelle1013 жыл бұрын
As a child I did dance and ballet, so whenever we did performances we had the outfits and the makeup...and I liked it for a while. I was put into dancing at 2 and then stopped when I was 8....Simply because I grew bored with it and even though my mom threatened to force me, I clearly let her know--it'd be a waste of our time and her money if she did b/c I didn't want to do it.
@ilovecows052915 жыл бұрын
wow, i can tell that these girls are going to be great people in our society when they are older, i hope they enjoy putting most of their money towards taxes instead of clothes :D
@Stephie200712 жыл бұрын
I've done research on it. if you've ever watched the shows like "Toddlers and Tiaras", some little girl cries in some parts of the show almost every episode. I'm not speaking from experience (although when I was 4, I was in dance classes but I wanted to do that and most of the girls in my age group wore make up for a recital but I did not b/c mom knew I was too young. and no we did not wear skimpy outfits like the ones displayed on the girls in "Dance Moms" or "Toddlers and Tiaras")
@anakay8312 жыл бұрын
I agree. The mom is trying to absolve her own self from any guilt by saying "It's her decision". Parents should make decisions for kids until they are mature enough to make their own decisions.
@Fangirl4415 жыл бұрын
I think pagents are great. It helps with confidence and I love total glitz even though my sister loves natural. It helps with so much more than people know, you win and loose in it and its a great way to build confidence and if you think about it a lot of things kids are in are just like pagents. Like dance or cheerleading can get expensive and you have to wear certain costumes and makeup and theres a winner and looser. Not that big of a difference.
@Keiri1213 жыл бұрын
@TheDellanator what make up usually you wear when you go to school? included eyeliner & eye shadow? I'm curious, because most of schools in my country that I know don't even allow high school students to wear make-up, have second hole in one ear, included highlight/colouring hair.
@sarahizjaleeah12 жыл бұрын
Because they're not the same thing. I grew up doing ballet shows and yes, we got our hair and makeup done for "The Nutcracker" but we saw it as transforming into a character, getting dance steps right, and contributing to a show, rather than focusing on looking beautiful.

A child that young doesn't know what she wants. She is simply agreeing with what her mother says. It promotes low self esteem - it's such an aesthetically focused environment, you kind of get the impression all they're going to be instilled with in life is that being beautiful, hair, make up, shoes and dresses is the only thing that makes a person - when its not.
