Child World - "The Happy Store" (Commercial, 1975) 🌎

Here's a commercial for Child World toy store. (or "toy supermarket") Features an animated rabbit with a yellow shirt that says "I'm Happy" on it. (Kind of looks like the Quik bunny) His name was, aptly enough, "Happy Rabbit". He was later replaced by a cartoon panda bear named "Peter Panda" who wore overalls.
This aired on local Boston TV in 1975.

When I was small my family went to RI every summer...we always passed a Child World somewhere in the wilds of Connecticut. My mom used to tell me that if I was good on the car ride, and the trip, we'd stop at Child World on our way back...and we always did!

I remember this ad campaign well in the NY market! Lasted until 1980 or so when they went with a new live mascot "Peter Panda". This is the first time I've found a commercial with the full vocal of the theme (up to now just found one with a spokesman and the theme playing in the background).

This jingle at the same time was also used for Children's Palace in the Ohio state and Pittsburgh/Western Pennsylvania area with the "Child World" name replaced by the "Children's Palace" name.

I think they were the same company as the Panda was the mascot for our Children's Palace in Erie PA. I remember when it was built and popular in the 80's. It was HUGE. Then TRU came in and they shuttered. Now both are gone. The TRU is a fitness center and the Children's Palace in an IT school.

Child World was like Toy 'R' Us on steroids. We would pass one every time we visited my Grandma in Saugus, Ma. We would beg to stop every time. I feel bad for kids today not having these stores. Just walking in the door was an adventure & would make your eyes pop out of your head.

I remember seeing a building for going ice skating in Mount Prospect Illinois that was changed into Child World which was the only one I saw in 1983 or 1984 and never one of their commercials though.

We had Bargain Town which was later called Toys Are Us in the Chicago area finally built converted a place to go ice skating in 1983 or 1984 to one, but do not remember any of their commercials.

Child World and Play World had one thing OVER Toy's R' Us: They sold "old stock" toys ! In 1980 / 1981 they had all the Buck Rogers toys! And MEGO figures !!!!!!!!!
