When I moved back into my childhood bedroom in 2020 because of the pandemic, I thought it would be temporary. Now, it’s 3 years later, I’m 3 years older, and trying to make a life for myself as an adult in this room is making me go a little bit crazy…
With the help of my parents, who are graciously still letting me live here rent free, we transformed this room into something even more beautiful. Without taking out its girlish comfort, we turned it into something that’s functional for me as an adult. My room is my favorite place to be. Just looking around makes me inspired to be creative. It’s amazing really, with just a few art pieces and furniture upgrades, and some major decluttering, how a room can go from a reminder of pain to a source of comfort.
This room makeover was so much fun to do. Let me know what you think! Don't forget to subscribe:)

Got me teary eyed, you really put words to what I’ve also been feeling, trapped at the age the pandemic started, waiting for things to go back to a normal that doesn’t exist anymore, all passion for a future drained. Your film style is so nice, and really made me feel not so alone in my situation even though I know I was never alone.

This comment really means a lot to me. I know the pandemic has been hard for everyone, no matter who you are, but I often feel totally alone in my situation, even among my peers, due to my unique inability to cope with the changes to my life as they were happening. Thankfully I'm starting to come out the other side now, and I hope you know that I am rooting for you to do the same and feel hopeful for your future. You're right that you're not alone, even if it feels that way. I'm right there with you!

Wow, you truly are a filmmaker! Watching you and your father build the nightstands was really healing to me. I couldn't stop smiling the whole way through... wish I had a relationship like that. Thanks for sharing this. I found it really warm, heartfelt and inspirational. Truly came from passion and the heart. Well done!

I redid my room during the pandemic and yeah I was able to paint over my past mistakes, I was unable to confront the fact that though I’m older, I’m still that same teenage person. So despite having new walls, floors etc. I still cling to all my treasured items from when I wasn’t alone in the world. This video really touched something in me and I’m so glad I came across it.

Elanor, Thank you for your sincerity and your storytelling. I’m seeing this video a year after it came out and the very week I’ve moved back into my childhood bedroom as a college grad of the covid age. Everything has changed but something in my spirit feels stuck and my space mirrors that anxiety. You’ve encouraged me to take the time to make this space my own again and honor the girlhood that got me where I am today. I cannot thank you enough for giving me this spark of hope ❤️

Thank you for this video. I had never seen anyone renovate their childhood room but not stripping it of everything that made it special. I'm in university but I spend every weekend and holiday back in my childhood bedroom. I thought I was being silly for wanting to freshen it up because I'm supposed to be an adult now, focus on decorating my dorm, which was supposed to signify my maturity but being there just made me feel anxious about all the social stuff I'm missing out on snd everything else about my life. Being home (at my parents) feels way more cosy but at the same time it feels stuck at 13 years old. I appreciate my tween and teen years a lot and I don't want to lose that time capsule and I feel like you did it perfectly.

Thank you for sharing this part of your life with me❤️ I know exactly how you feel. Recently I was imagining moving out of my childhood home into an apartment and how I will decorate my bedroom in the future. I realized that I'll never have a room in the future that has all the history of my childhood bedroom, and that's what makes this room so special. Thank you for watching and good luck with the rest of your studies❤️

At 37 I'm probably well out of your intended audience but it spoke to me still, your experiences might not be the exact same as mine but the feelings and emotions especially of being trapped really are so familiar. Your style of story telling is beautiful and emotional but full of hope. I hope one day you see the success and recognition you deserve.

I am already in my 20's and I feel I haven't changed much since I was 13 when I left my home country and the people and world I knew behind. I got a bit bigger and learned a lot but apart from my family and my home I don't have a world. Its just them and me. We are moving again soon, this time across country. I hope I get to expand my world once I get there and get a job.

I always wondered why is felt like I'm still stuck at 15 while being almost 21, and also why the pandemic didn't really change much like it did for others. This video put it into words I could never. At the end of my 15th year my health declined to the point of staying home for most of my high-school life. I only got to finish my 9th grade and then it was like my childhood was on pause. I didn't hang out with what friends I had at the time and lost contact with them; I never got my graduation because I decided it was better to get my GED a year early. I went to college full time at 17 but it still felt like I was playing adult, and sadly had to drop out due to the pandemic when everything went online. Seeing this video it really helped me realize that it's OK to grow up while stilling holding onto what I had. Thank you for sharing the journey with us.

Thank you so much for writing this comment. I really resonate with your story because my childhood best friend from kindergarten became chronically ill when we were 15. She was hardly ever in school for the rest of high school. High school was really difficult for me socially - I was very lonely and isolated - and that's partly because my best friend wasn't there in school with me, and we drifted apart. It is still a big source of sadness for me when I look back on my adolescence. I thought that she and I would grow up together and instead we grew apart. I'm sorry that these are the cards you've been dealt. Thanks again for sharing this comment. It made me look back on that friendship and appreciate what it was like for her to miss out on so much of her adolescence. I hope that you have fun new experiences in your future. You've certainly earned them!

This video is inspiring to me! Right now I am a teen, who's room floor you can't even see. I wanted to redecorate my room but we just moved stuff without putting anything away and it's turned into an absolute mess! And like you said, I have homework that takes hours. I hope your KZbin channel can grow, you seem like a really cool person, good luck!!

As you can see, I also cannot see my bedroom floor most of the time. I know it's not like this for everyone, but I had less free time in high school than I had even in my toughest semesters in college. You'll get through it! Thank you for the encouragement ♡

Loved this video and how personal it was. Way different from the gerenric aesthetic room makeovers you referred to in the beginning. I'm totally on your side with rooms needing some personality and not only looking nice for a pInterest! Also, I've been where you are (multiple times moving back home actually) and I just want to say, it won't last forever and you'll find your way eventually and do the things you've wanted to do when you were younger.. sometimes it needs more time than we like. But I hope you also get to enjoy the time you have at home. I kinda missed out on it, being too focused on wanting to move on.

Thank you so much for this comment. I totally agree with your sentiment about cherishing time spent at home as an adult. It can be challenging in the moment to not get caught up in wanting to leave, but any time spent with family and friends is a privilege. Thank you again for watching!

I think you misunderstood some of the “office space” in the girls rooms, they’re mostly just gaming set ups or where they draw, since that’s what a lot of the girls that do this makeovers are interested (myself included).
