With Scotland being roughly the size of South Carolina, road trips to the Highlands could easily be completed in a day with either a stop off at the Green Wellie Stop if you were heading to Glen Coe or The House of Bruar if you were heading to Culloden Moor. "Eye Spy with my little eye something beginning with H?" ... Hills! "Eye spy with my little eye something beginning with M?" ... More Hills! :-) Keep up the awesome work!

Hahaha! It’s all about those hills! That aside, a road trip in Scotland sounds freaking amazing.

America was such an incredible place during the 80s-2000s. It all feels like a fever dream now, a moment in time that we’ll never get to experience again. Kids nowadays won’t understand the pure joy we felt back then just being alive in this world.
@RetroDaze10 ай бұрын
It was a different world for sure. Yes, some things are better now. But it’s hard to deny that, though we are more connected than ever… things feel so disconnected.

My sister always started the fights and I was the one who got in trouble 😂 We always ended up playing the magnetic travel checkers and the time flew by. Such great memories

It’s always the sister’s fault! Totally sexist rules in the car. 😆

Ah, Road trips. They were fun times, and perhaps this year I'll have a chance to go on one. When I was younger, we had road trips to visit family in South Carolina. When I got older, it was bus trips to Pennsylvania and Murtle Beach. My family and I did quite a few things mentioned in the video. It was so exciting planning for the trips. I always made sure to have my music, videogames, books to read, snacks, and blanket for the trip. The rest stop we usually went to was awesome and always had fresh baked cookies and things to buy. The day/night before our trip, we would go to the nearest grocery store and gas station for snacks and beverages. We would pack sandwiches and/or get nuggets/sandwiches from Chick fil a.
@RetroDaze10 ай бұрын
All of that sounds amazing! Preparing for the trip was filled with anticipation. Then to break out all the things you had prepared felt like vindication of your efforts.

Ah yes! I’m an80’s Kid! The those kind of trips were so fun to take together as a family, without everyone in the car staring at there phones! The little stops whether it was cool rest stops our little tourist attractions were the best part of the trip! Good times

Good times indeed. Even though there would be those times of boredom, looking back on those trips only brings back memories of the fun that was had.

The only time we ever had to go on a road trip when I was a kid was when we had to go to Georgia for Thanksgiving. Even so, it was really fun riding down there with my family. If I remember correctly, I used to read some books and play on my Game Boy Color.

There were SIX of us, had a 1979 Plymouth Voyager extended cab...drove from Chicago to Grand Canyon, then San Jose, then LA, San Fran, Modesto, back through Death Valley, Salt Lake, Rockies, then home. Took three weeks. We mostly slept in the van, or at KOA, or National Parks along the away. It was amazing. The middle of June, and we had to drive though Death Valley with the heater on, so the van would stay cool. We were all sweating like hell! lol

For my family's road trips during the 70's and 80's, the music was often John Denver and Harry Chapin albums as well as other music genres such as folk and jazz. However, like you mentioned in your video, my Dad would also tune into the AM radio news stations. We had a Chevy Caprice station wagon, and being the youngest sibling, I was made to sit in the rear-facing seat all the way in the back.
@RetroDaze10 ай бұрын
But that was the BEST seat! Like it was just you and the road you were leaving behind. 😆

@@RetroDaze I don't know, I got a little queasy sometimes moving backwards, but if someone was sitting back there with me like one of my cousins or siblings, it was fun to wave to the cars behind us.

I remember we used to drive each other and our parents crazy on some road trips. My brothers were gratuitously farting, my sisters and I would have contests to see who could talk in the squeakiest voices, and one we had allergy attacks one spring, so we did “sniffle tag”, until our parents yelled at us to stop.
@RetroDaze10 ай бұрын
Hahaha! As parents now, we would probably be inclined to beat the tar out of our younger selves!
