Thank you for raising this topic and explaining it so well. My precious toddler grandson was born with a genetic heart defect, and has had multiple medical trauma in the first 2 years of his life, and has many of these fight or flight reactions, e.g. blood tests were always taken from his feet, so he would react whenever his feet were touched. I had never heard that parts of the brain could over-develop at the detriment of others, and it was so reassuring to hear that routines and strategies can overcome his fears and anxieties.

Thank you so much, this is such an amazing and deep eye opener, I probably only understood it at a very basic level and still, this is something for me to practice to become more aware of. You have such an impact on our lives with your brilliant videos, I'm now contemplating about the enlarged amigdala that we unconsciously gave to our girl and ways to improve it.

Please tell me you are in Alabama so my son can be evaluated by you?! He's currently in foster care and will be 3 next week. My score was 5 and his is likely a 7. I'm really worried because he was smart and highly developed prior to all this. However, we had a visit today it appeared his has regressed. His tone completely changed, he talked almost like a baby and I'm scared for him and the trauma that may affect him in the future.

In an instance where a child’s score is a 3-4, could that trauma appear as “autism” when it is really just trauma? How can you tell the difference? Maybe in a 5 year old?
