Wow! Excellent message. I love where you said “trauma was not our fault, but healing is our responsibility”. I didn’t even know I was traumatized and needed help until my relationships, jobs , everything started to fall apart. I was having a difficult time in every area of my life! I was so used to dysfunction, I thought it was normal. I’m so thankful to God for sending you Dr. Phillips!!

Luv Dr. Anita however, I am not a proponent of yoga for the following personal experience: The Lord kept me from exposing my spirit to that in yoga. While at the gym, I decided to participate in a yoga session as the instructor asked us to make a certain pose, something immediately rose up within me & I internally yet silently screamed "the only God I will bow down to is Jesus." I quietly got up & walked out of the class. I then asked God to show me what happened in that yoga class, within 2-days, I saw a news segment on tv wherein a yoga guru explained certain poses rever and pay respect to deities (i.e., Gods) of different religions. You can research this for yourself.

Been practicing Yoga for years, a spirit Filled believer, and have never sensed, felt nor experienced anything but healing. As a result at nearly 60 I can do poses my teenage athletes grandchildren can't & struggle to do! I meditate on HIS word & listen to worship. My MOST HIGH GOD & HIS Spirit within me is stronger & more powerful than any spirit or deity. Perhaps start from that understanding

You can do Christian yoga. Yes, that’s a thing. The exercises and stretching are what you’re really there for. Trust, Christian yoga instructors will have you bowing to Jesus while directing you to recite healing scriptures. Same class, but all Jesus/God/Lord talk throughout. You should look into it.

I found out recently im suffering from PTSD and it has played a part in the breakdown of my 26 year marriage. My husband is now suffering from a mental breakdown and is blaming me and says im a narcissist and i know that is not true its is because i grew up in a house with a alcoholic grand father and my husband's drinking habits triggered me weekly. Im so broken i need healing.

I would never tell anyone to leave their marriage, but maybe you need to remove yourself to heal. If this marriage is of God, he will bring you 2 back together when you both are healed and healthy to continue the marriage. The fact that you married a alcoholic says a lot. I'm not judging when I say that, I'm saying that you married what was familiar and dysfunctional because that was your norm growing up. I will pray for you Sheree. I love you with the love of Christ.

Dr. Phillips. Thank God for what he has put into to pour out. I am a father and husband of a blended family that has a dynamic toxicity that your words speak to. I am leader, but being able to take my family from this Egypt is very, very heavy. I am man whom is well accomplished in several areas of life, but family is a failure being blamed for the wounds of my wife’s family dynamic and the ability to solve a slew of mental, emotional, spiritual, and childhood trauma. I understand your words as I have overcome my own trauma through family community, professional help, and personal relationship with God. As I worship God while hearing the truth of my situation, it is encouraging that as a strong man weakened by this cross there will be resurrection power. I will live and not die to proclaim the glory of the Lord. Break the cycle. Edit: Just after I sent this message, I am now editing because you just introduced that last statement: “Break the cycle.”

Greetings from California. I woke up around 4am and couldn't go back to sleep. The Lord directed me to your channel. I grew up in a family that doesn't like in-laws, and there are so many layers of secrets, cliques and favoritism. That being said, I never really got to know my Mother, Father or the hosts of Aunts, Uncles and Cousins. There is, and still to this day, always this air of "I'm better than you." I used to always ask myself, "What are all of these people hiding?" Family members wore cloaks of suspicion, and this has always left me at odds with myself. I didn't quite know how to define myself. Oh, these are good ole' C.O.G.I.C. folks where, " you can't join in, but you have to be born in." So, as a child, I turned within myself. I'll be 62, and I am a loner. God has been gracious enough to save me 29 years ago. There's 3 generations of women in my family(actually 4 generations), and we're getting our healing by any means necessary. I'm fighting every single day that God sends. So, thank you for your timely word, Dr. Anita. Trauma and abuse will not have Dominion over my family. 🙏👏😇👑

“The testimony of his greatness can be disrupted by a testimony of trauma going to generation to generation. We want to root that out of our family systems, we want to break cycles so we can declare His mighty works to the generations and not declare our pain. Even in our silence we declare pain, when we keep secrets we declare pain. Trauma transmits in silence.”

Wow, wow, wow!!! So profound. So timely - I’m literally reading the stories of all the characters you referenced in this talk! I was really grappling with a lot of the decisions and outcomes I read about, and if I’m honest, I was being judgmental. This message really brought much-needed perspective on both those biblical examples and my own personal life experiences. It’s a great reminder to be gracious both to others and to ourselves, because we don’t know what kind of trauma others have experienced causing the Pete behaviour we encounter. We also can be more gracious to ourselves because we better understand our own traumas. Thank you so much Dr. Anita! God richly bless you 🙏🏾💛

Your teaching is so helpful to me. I’ve been diagnosed with anxiety. Has been told as a very young child I’m a nervous child. Listening to you about trauma for me comes from my birth. My birth I’m told was traumatic. That help me to understand my nervous and anxiety. I was also hard on my boys when they were growing up, knowing my actions were from my fears. I’m now 75 years old my sons are grown men. We have been to therapy through the years. Thank You for teaching about the anxiety and fear.

This was an awesome. I had an expectation of marrying a woman out of ministry school that we would do life together and do kingdom business with a kingdom mindset. Yet I have met a woman who has devalued me, been disloyal, dishonest, disrespectful, degrading, denigrating, lying blame-shifting, deflecting, projecting, cheating, accusing, cussing, drinking beer and liquor, controlling manipulative, threatening, smearing my name to my family, not hers all under this Bible. I ask that you pray for me. I didn’t sign up for a performer, an actor, a stage player, a hypocrite basically. I have wasted another 5 years of my life on dating or marrying a woman in church. There are definitely mental health issues low self-esteem, insecurities, and possible childhood trauma. She refuses to go get help. and I refuse to stay where I am not tolerated or appreciated.

I miss peace, and quiet, and alone time, and I don't know what to do to get it back. This noise is disrupting every part of my life and I'm emotionally and physically drained. I don't sleep properly, I don't eat well. I can gain weight easy, as usual, but when I try to lose my body won't release it. I don't have any one to share this pain with, so it's slowly grinding me down. Prayer definitely helps, I wouldn't have survived this long without it. I've always understood that God is peace, God is love, but when noise is with you 24/7.. I'm so tired.

Thank you for this video thank you for being a vessel. I have been on my therapy journey since last summer and it has been an emotional rollercoaster of emotions I thought I have dealt with. This topic is such a huge stigma in the churches and it is hard to find a support system during this journey. Being told I don't need therapy and God alone should be enough not that I disagree but people don't realize there needs to be soul healing and that it takes time and people heal at different length of times. Please continue to make videos like this that will open up awareness. God bless you!

When a person is ignorant about a matter they will say that. Plus, therapy is stigmatized in the Black community. They just don't know. Get your therapy my dear. May God continue to bless you in your journey to healing. Someone telling you God alone is enough is wrong. You also need a compassionate person in the world to help you unpack the baggage therapeutically. I'm with you on this. I'm a survivor of incest and child sexual abuse from girls in elementary school. This affected me in a lot of ways. Seeing this video over and again confirmed and convicted me to share my testimony. I went through so much trauma as a child at the hands of a violently manipulative mother and a child molesting step-father😂 that I carried it into adulthood I have spent most of my adult life trying to get free from generational curses along with anxiety and depression. Please pray for my healing.
