It certainly sounds better than other the 2 year accelerated options in LatAm. Chilean girls are cute too, so a very appealing plan in many ways. I was thinking of doing Peruvian citizenship in 2 years (without marriage or reproduction) but an upgrade to a better passport... will definitely give it some thought.

@@tunc34 Well... a big theme in the video was getting your Chilean citizenship down from 5 years to 2 years. Since marriage and childbirth would (for me anyway) necessitate the participation of a female, I would say it has a LOT to do with it. You feel free to go your own way, but I prefer girls, and cute girls, cute Chilean girls with dark features, sounds about right.

Chile is not a Full member of Mercosur. They are not even an ascending member. They are ONLY an Associate member.

Regardless their citizens have freedom of movement just like every other member of Mercosur.

Chile has conscription (mandatory military service) is it still a good idea to get one? Do people who naturalise have to serve in the military? I'm Not sure about that... How much paid up capital is required realistically?

Chile is an excellent passport option. Though, the time frame is standard but a bit long at 5 years for most people. That's 5 years of paying high taxes since the minimum presence requirement is 183 days per year. This could be mitigated with some complex structures involving trusts and offshore non-controlled foreign corporations., but not for everyone. Great option though for those that can take advantage of it under mitigated circumstances, especially in the context of the 2 year fast track.

Good point, and while complex setups could be rewarding there are grey areas and risks associated and you never know what your tax authority might flag as being non compliant. Sometime they even change the rules to suite their needs. One needs to be on top of their game and with a good strategy.

They take 4 years right now just to setup a meeting about citizenship. So like 9 years to a passport. Maybe theres a faster way.

4 years wait sounds unreasonably high, they should have standard processing times, should probably petition the government.

Chile is A- passport because of military conscription if you are 17 to 24 years old.

Yeah, good luck with that having a child in Chile route. There was an American couple who did that and the mother wasn't even eligible to become a permanent resident. She had been allowed to stay in the country via her husband's employment visa as a teacher. They are on KZbin and have a channel about the time they spent in Chile.

Can you please clarify? So if the child is born in Chile - the baby gets automatic citizenship but do the parents need to stay in Chile for 2 years or can they live somewhere else and claim the Chilean citizenship due to the kid being born in Chile?

The birth option works possibly better when one of the partners is a Chilean. Not sure how effective the birth option works when both the partners are non Chilean. I don't think Chile is as liberal as Argentina in those cases. I suppose for the latter Argentina/Brazil are much better time tested options

Argentina and Brazil surely lead wrt. birth tourism. Visa-free is much liberal than Chile.

We don't have this program, but except for sectors like agriculture in certain special zones, as a foreigner, you are welcome, plus you benefit from a lot of tax advantages. The passport is not incredible unless you want to do business in sub-Saharan Africa, but there are quite a few foreigners who obtained the passport without marrying a local. Besides, why do you want to obtain a Moroccan passport ?

It's a Tier A passport with Visa Waiver Program Access to the US, visa free access to New Zealand, visa free access to Canada. Chile also has visa free access to Russia, and Schengen as well as Ireland & the UK, and is a member of Mercosur with residency rights in almost all of South America, plus Chile is a member of APEC and you can get an APEC Business travel card as a Chilean which gives you access to Australia and China for business. The Chilean passport has access to almost all of Southeast Asia except Brunei and can obtain APEC card access to Brunei, they also have access to Japan and pretty much the entire Western Hemisphere, except Venezuela, and they have strong access to the Middle East, South Asia, Oceania, and Africa. Chile is also the second safest country in the western hemisphere behind Canada, and it's per capita GDP is $17k the second highest in South America behind Uruguay and the fourth highest in the western hemisphere behind the US, Canada, and Uruguay, when you do not count the distorted GDPs of tax havens like Bermuda or the Cayman Islands. It is ahead of Bulgaria in the EU, Turkey, Mexico, and Russia in terms of per capita GDP.
