HISTORY
The French defeat in the Franco-Prussian War (1870), changes the paradigm of the Chilean Army, changing the French model that prevailed at the time, by the Prussian model, which explains their broad similarities with the Prussian military culture. The decision to adopt such a military discipline was the president Domingo Santa Maria. In 1885 the Prussian artillery captain Emilio Körner was hired for his experience as a teacher at the School of artillery and engineers Charlottenburg, making it responsible for the training of the Chilean army. In the following years, came to Chile many instructors of the various nations of the German Empire, the result was the achievement of a disciplined and well-trained army. The prestige of the Chilean Army led several countries, including Ecuador, El Salvador, Venezuela and Colombia requested him military missions to collaborate in the reorganization of his armies.
