I noticed with some of the pictures of Karolina that her outer eyebrows are a lot less full and this can be a symptom of drastically low thyroid. I had my thyroid removed when I was young due to cancer and have twice gone into a low thyroid coma. I had to be hospitalized and given around the clock thyroid replacement through IV before I awoke. It could be that her thyroid was barely producing enough thyroid hormones to keep her alive but seemingly comatose. Idk. Just an idea.

Yes it certainly sounds like it could be. I was wondering at the start if it was locked in syndrome after a stroke but the wakeful periods makes me doubt it now.

Definitely possible! Can't remember his name but I know there was a man (I think from the medieval period maybe 1400's and I believe he was a priest or something like that?) who was diagnosed based on his portrait. It's impossible to diagnose people from the past and know for 100% certain what they suffered from if at all but it's for sure interesting 🤔

Ahhh... La Voisin... Thanks for including her! She was a real legend during the reign of Louis XIV. I don't think she was as "evil" as she was opportunistic, though she was responsible for convincing many, many people to do evil things themselves. The end result of her potions, powders, and pills (not to mention her abortion services) was to give women (mostly) a sense of agency over their lives in a time when most women had none.

I'm surprised there's no mention of bedsores in neither Karolina Olsen's, nor Blanche Monnier's cases. Though Blanche wasn't asleep, I presume she still spent most of her time on her mattress, and even with modern bedding one needs to be careful so that patients doesn't develop bedsores. But I suppose it's always possible that it's one if those details which might've been forgotten through time, or maybe they were "lucky" in at least the bedsores lottery.

If the story is true poor Dorothy 😕 Just shows how hypocritical things were for us women and how much the men in our lives had power over us in the past- he ran off got married didn't even try to fight for her, had a bunch of children, and only after his wife's death as his second best option when he had nothing better to do did he decide to finally pursue her but then when he finds out she wasn't "untouched" and loyal to him the entire time she's suddenly a bad person even though he himself did the same exact thing 🙄 Heartbreakingly I know that sadly that's just how things were back in those days (children being married off to adults, arranged marriages, women not having any rights, husbands were able to abuse and control their wives since legally speaking women were seen as property wether of their father husband or any other man in their life, women being seen as breeding machines spending their entire lives pumping out child after child to make "heirs", etc) but still imagine loving someone for almost your entire life watching them get married and have children with someone else, then when you finally get with them them getting angry at you for something they themselves did, hurting you, locking you up, keeping you away from your children, seeing that "love" turn to pure hatred, and spending the rest of your days all alone until you die young all alone from a painful death and that pain being so intense that your spirt or some of your energy stays behind 😢 It's funny her lover is made out to be the villain of this story but at least he didn't lock her up and emotionally torment her 🤷🏻‍♀️ RIP Dorothy ❤️

Just to note that when they were testing to see if it was Marie Therese, that Alexander was not a descendent of Marie Antionette herself (as she has no descendants past her children) but rather a descendent of her mother, which is why they were still able to do mitochondrial DNA.

could be great, but the creator plays the same music over and over again, which produces ear fatigue. Many video makers lose viewers because they play the same music over and over again and people shut it off not knowing why. Why are you so cranky when you’re on hold for 10 minutes? Because you’re listening to the same four seconds of music over and over and over which can almost be torturous.
