Adore this style, I remember a long time ago that Direct said he couldn't decide which direction to go in, he felt like he was making too many different styles. I know youtube comments have a reputation of being unnecessarily sappy and melancholy on videos like these; but this song really does mean more to me than a lot of others because of when i found it. I was much younger than i am now, and i had lost my first two pets, santa and fe (named for the railroad we found them on). They hadn't died actually, but we had to give them away living on a small house with two blue heelers. They were obviously depressed and we figured they'd be happier on a farm or some place with acres for them to run on. My mom was there when she gave them away, i never met the new owners but i believe they probably had a pretty good life. She said they came with a little boy who couldn't keep his hands off of the dogs so, i felt like they'd be good family. They were still gone though, and moving on was hard. A while later i'd convinced my dad to adopt puppies for us. We went and looked at the shelter and found two pit bull siblings, brother and sister, no bigger than the size of my forearm. We later named them Show Biz, and The Beat respectively. Show biz went on to become just biz and beats name was shortened as well, i sometimes called him beatle. One day, they were probably about six months old, my dad picks me up from school and just tells me, biz had died. She was sick with heart worm and had always been rather small. She had just gone to sleep and never woken up. I remember how she looked just, curled up in her bed, youd swear you saw her breathing if you stared long enough. Biz had been my dads dog, and beatle was really my favorite, but the loss still hurt. Everyone knows what its like to lose a pet, bug to care for her brother would bring me great joy. He lived for a year longer, until after a painful week of surgery, he died due to a knot in his intestines. He was an adorable dog, adorably brick headed. He got into trouble, he ran into trees and hed knoch his head on the couch trying to get on it. Hed sit down in the middle of the street on walks and id have to drag him home when he refused to move. I have so many memories of his unapologetic goofiness i will never forget. On the day he passed i heard this song, played this video. I dont know why, i found it when i was devastated. It let me hold on to him, on to his smiling pibble face and his sisters bumpy forehead. It let me remember grabbing the flab on the back of his neck, watching videos with him as my couch pillow, and the way he grew into those big puppy feet. Thats what this song means to me, my memory. I listen to remind myself how i felt back then, why i choose to love now and what it has done for me. There is no happiness without sadness, maybe not for me; but there is no sadness in biz and beat. That 6 months for biz was spent closest to the most caring person i know, and if I left as much as half the mark on beatle that he left on me, that dog died happy.
