That word on the wall in the visual is intriguing, especially as it doesn't look like graffiti. It's 'znamya' which in Russian means 'banner'. In the 90's the Soviets launched this huge mirror-like disk called Znamya into orbit. The idea was it would reflect sunlight back to Earth and particularly to Russia to lengthen the short winter days and 'boost productivity'. It sort of worked for a few orbits then burned up on re-entry. I wonder why that word is on that wall? Maybe it was the name of the team that played basketball there.

I was also curious and found this on the internet. It's an abandoned sports hall of a Soviet military base in Vogelsang, Brandenburg in Germany. The full inscription on the wall reads 'Выше ЗНАМЯ армейского спорта' or in english 'Higher (meaning to raise the level) the BANNER of army sports' which refers to Soviet posters promoting a healthy lifestyle. You can find more information by simply googling there are a lot of photos of this place
