2082. The world has evolved. Those born into this generation drive futuristic cars that drive in the sky and resemble the old-days DMC DeLorean. People have come and gone. You’re driving down the sky, the lights guiding you on your way to the next Galaxy over. You have no destination, no goal, no need or want. You just feel like driving on and on. Continuing into whatever may lie ahead. The music in the background gives you a... tingling feeling... as if you’ve heard it before... You get flashbacks of a time... many years before this one... A time where... People wished they could live among the stars, and explore the “Intergalactic Highway”... But here you are, on a one way trip down the highway, many many miles above the Earth, which is only a dot in your mirror. Your souped up Delorean cruising at 88k parsecs per hour. Which, compared to some cars, is rather slow. But for you, it’s just right. *Thanks for reading, enjoy the music, and dream on.*

Andomeda is about 2.5 million years-light away and can be seen as a faint halo to the naked eye. So this means this car is playing retrowave approx. 2 million years into the future.
@HungryTacoBoy5 жыл бұрын
I liked this comment, but the Andromeda galaxy isn't travelling toward the Milky Way galaxy at the speed of light. The Andromeda galaxy would still appear very faint and very far away in 2 million years time. The collision of the two galaxies is predicted to happen approximately 4.5 billion years from now, or to put it another way, the collision will happen as far into the future as our solar system's birth is in our past. So, this car is playing retrowave close to 4 billion years in the future.
@ChristopherSmith9165 жыл бұрын
So, one light(edit: year) is about 5.88 trillion miles. 2.5 million x 5.88 trillion. Around 15 quintillion miles (15 with 18 zeros following it...15,000,000,000,000,000,000.) Oh and Andromeda is moving towards us at around 68 miles per second. So, as @FractalBoy says, it's possibly we could see a collision in roughly...4 billion years.

Super grateful I was alive in the '80's even if I was just a kid/early teen. SO much of this music is like the background music at malls of the time, just sort of what was in the distance while you ate fries in the food court or waited in line for a movie. It takes me back to lazy summer afternoons after we went swimming and were going to the roller rink for pizza and rootbeer. I feel hopeful again listening to this music. Thank you.

@@Maltebyte2 .. Question. If we were to get into a really fast spaceship (i.e. lightspeed) and aim it at the visual image of the Milky Way, we would find we are constantly steering to the left (or whatever) in order to be going directly to it? (i.e. a straight line would throw us off course). And, it would still take roughly 2.5 Million years? Another question... If we looked up into the sky this evening and saw just this, which is only an image from 2.5 M years ago, could we do a math formula and then be able to say "actually the milky way is over there or down there"? Or too difficult?
@Maltebyte25 жыл бұрын
@@mikem.2078 Good Question! If we point a spaceship at the visual image of the Milky Way or any sufficiently far away enough objects we would point the craft at a ghost as the real "matter" was at that postion in space time X many years ago. I am not the best at maths but those formulas should exist im positiv! Try google that you will find an answer to those good questions.

@@mikem.2078 Sorry to disappoint you but it's impossible for us to leave Miky Way / Milkdromeda in the future. Universe is still expanding much much much faster than the speed of light which means that all the galaxies are driffting away from each other. If you would somehow manage to escape Milky Way you would be just trapped in empty Space with no possibility to come back. We're trapped in one galaxy among the billiions of other galaxies. It's such a small space, yet it's still too fucking big to explore it all. It's terryfing and awesome at once. Isn't it?
