That was beautiful. 10's across the board for sure

The faster you go, the sooner it will flip. Eventually, You'll reach your 70mph + goal, but you"ll end up with an empty pocket $$$, and a broken UL-19. Also a new hull or new parts, then you will quit the "relentless pursuit of speed" and start enjoying the UL in a moderate way. Personal experience (all if the above). Still, keep it up. The water tends to absorb part of the signal between TX and RX. if you could stand in a higher place results will improve greatly. Good day man👍

Thanks for the insight. Actually I was headed there the evening this happened. After seeing Darin Jordan's video running laps, I thought this setup would be wetter. It didn't run as loose or chine walk. Didn't expect 64.8 mph. Maybe it would run good laps on 5s tho...
@edwincordero86 жыл бұрын
Sam Hallstrom 5S will be perfect. More runtimes with less heat in the electronics.

Thanks for the feed back. I'm going to pursue this 6s setup to see if I can keep it on the water and turn. And run laps with good temps. I have separate dual water lines, will run laps and post temps.

The boat is back together and I lowered the strut a 1/16", see if that runs wetter. Not a scratch on it!

Not sure if that's a rtr spekrum dx2 or what, but if it takes 4-8 AA batteries, try fresh ones next time. You just can't toss the signal with low power. Or maybe get a descent transmitter with a Li-Ion or LiPo cell in it that you can just recharge. And BTW most rechargeable AA's, if that's what you use, dont have the voltage even fully charged. I think its 1.2v vs 1.6 the alkaline new ones put out. Anyway, nice flip. Keep in mind that hulls do crack. And it sux when you need to grind down a cracked mounting bracket to re-glue it. And above all, hope the lithium don't get wet. Yes it burns even if there is no oxygen, like under water, since it makes its own as it chemically breaks down. And fiberglass wont burn per say, but the resin coating and gel coat will. Nothing like looking at a molten pile of hot goop, that used to be your rc.

that was a nice flip boat ran desent I am a girl and I used to race full scale sport boats in 1978 1979 1980 . hydrostreams I had a fourteen and a half hydrostream with a 155 xs merc in line motor. usedc to run in the 80 mph plus speeds. sand the pads on the front of your boat you will pick up a couple of mph on the top end use like 400 grit sand paper. we used to sand the center pad on the hydrostreams and get a 3 to 5 mph. increase in speed. I have many electric r/c fast boats I most are pro boats zelos 36 running 83 mph. impulse 31 v3 with a chris Hoffman 17/16 prop goes 74mph. all stock just that prop. this prop is much different than the stock pro boat 17/ 16 prop. you can get it sharpened and balanced by chris h. from off shore electrics cost is near 60 dollars but you will be amazed at the speeds you will hit. got the veles 29 just purchased a black cat cat hull a shockwave 36 these 2 boats were nitro power I am making them electric there in pristine cond paid 75 dollars for them at my hobby shop. I eat and breath boats . grimracer makes some racing props and they work quite well. horizon hobbies sell the since tower hobbies went out of buss. happy boating dude.

Thank you. That's a lot of good info you shared. I hit 74.7mph this past summer with the stock prop that I worked. Then got called out here on KZbin, got called a liar and a fraud. So I took the vids down. I'll be posting some more this summer tho. Just gonna ignore them people. Enjoy your boat projects, I'm building a couple this winter too. Ttyl

I've got my mind made up on getting the ProBoat Zelos. These things are crazy!! A guy I work with just got himself a Traxxas M41. It isn't a bad boat, but I know ProBoat has the better boats. I've been doing some research on which I should get for a while. I was gonna get the 36" Sonicwake for the self righting, but I just can't get over how cool the twin prop throws insane high rooster tails and how crazy fast it is. Not as fast as the UL19 I wouldn't think but it has twin escs and motors. MAY help keep it in the water, but is to be seen. Either way, looks like a LOT of fun. PSA: I do like Traxxas but ProBoat has the boating game under wraps.
@chilly72615 жыл бұрын
Agree 100% on Pro Boat versus Traxxas. Traxxas trucks rule tho. Um, the Zeles is faster than the UL19, by quite a bit. Here's a link to a guy running 85mph with his, he's thrown shade on me, but here's props to a great running boat... kzbin.info/www/bejne/hHyvmIuEebyoopY

I don't believe that the impact with the shore did the damage to the turn fin and the rudder. I once flipped my O.S. .46,VRM powered Maus Scorpion hydroplane while running at Leg Lake in Elmonte CA and had the same damage to turn fin and rudder just from the flip and the way it impacted the water. Even the steering servo gears stripped even though it was a heavy duty high torque metal geared servo. All in all I guess that it all depends on how the boat hits the water after it goes airborne. My nitro boat runs 65 mph easily using 30% nitro and no matter how I trim it it'll blow over in a heartbeat if I try to stay at full throttle too long. Let's just say that I've had to retrieve more times I care to remember. Now I've got the proboat blackjack 8s powered catamaran and it has flipped just about everytime I've ran it. Tunnel hulls, hydroplanes and catamarans all have the inherent potential to get air and flip over but sometimes you'll get lucky and land right side up.
@chilly72612 жыл бұрын
The boat landed perfectly straight on the line it was running. There were no side forces like you are suggesting to damage the turn fin and rudder. Watch and listen to the slomo clip near the end of the video, and you can hear an impact at 9:56 and 9:59, the rudder hit first, then it hit the log that was angled down in the water that folded the turn fin sideways. You can see the boat tip to the left going over it...
@granttoye58525 жыл бұрын
It was the first hit on that big stick that did in the fin. Clean up the bank and stay further out next time. In a narrower turn lane.

Had to say one thing you're beautiful $100 sunset I'm afraid it's only worth about 25 cents when you get your boat running through that and you wonder where it went I can't see it you know what I'm talking about
@nellawell49764 жыл бұрын
Sam, running those speed's your trapping to much air up front to be stable. Can you move some hardware forward just a little? It will improve the ride. 57M A.P.B.A 12 year's and Iv'e blown them over (for real).

Hydros don't turn left. On the flip run, you had an angle to come toward shore and then tapped left. Lifted the sponson and over she went.
