The writers who worked on CBS Radio Mystery Theater just couldn't go wrong with adapting the work of such brilliant authors and playwrights as Shakespeare, H.G. Wells, Edgar Allan Poe and of course, Mark Twain. Would you believe that in 1977, when this show was still on the air, Jeff Wayne created a musical adaptation of H. G. Wells' War Of The Worlds??? I KID YOU NOT!! Just check out "Jeff Wayne War Of The Worlds" on Google or KZbin. The adaptation is a "rock opera" featuring a speaking performance by entertainment legend Richard Burton.

SPOILER ALERT!!!!!!!! The final minutes of Act 3 are a little wobbly, likely because of the condition of the record or tape on which this story was recorded.

We have THE MYSTERY THEATER available to us only because of fans taping directly from the broadcast itself.as it was being aired. CBS has not released any of the programs. Hy Brown's family has the master tapes and refuses to commercially release any of the shows. Any defects you hear are a direct result of the quality of the tape used by the original listener and/or how good the radio reception was when it was being taken off-air.
