Sometimes, every couple months I come back to watch this video. After 5 years is still the best wetshaving video on youtube, everything is just perfect, the essential shave den (with few products chosen with years of practice I assume) and a perfect technique. My goal in shaving is to have just what I need, not the nowadays huge den, and 50% of that ability with a razor. Thanks for the video. Really

I remember watching this as a new DE and prospective straight shaver. I've been straight shaving only since around Feb-March this year. Looking at the video now I can appreciate it on a different level. I like the writing on the edge of the spine.

Agreed the sponge idea is very neat idea and can't wait to try it out. I also love that razor case nice and sealed, throw a couple silicon packets in there to absorb any moisture and you don't have to worry at all about rust on your blades. Which by the way are gorgeous :) Great skin stretching technique as well a very nicely made video

One bowl contains the shaving soap, and the larger bowl keeps the lather warm. The water jacket where he dips the brush extends below where the lather is mixed.

Sir, thank you so much for this excellent video, it is very instructional. Can you tell me why you use the opposite side hand to shave? I'm a newbie and it seems using the right hand to shave right cheek and vice versa is the basic pattern I read about but your technique is superb. thanks in advance mark

Excellent video; great tutorial, too. Everything is very elegant. I've seen quite a bit of similar videos, but no one nowhere explains or shows how to find the right angle. After several pretty severe cuts I'm about to give up, but would like to hear from you, Dov, your suggestion on my angle issue. Or is it just go on practicing? Thank you. Ilya

@Eninety2 Thiers-Issard has his set on there web site if I remember correctly. It is a custom set with the days of the week in italian. The reason for 7 razors is you have a freshly honed blade everyday.Don't know about the aftershave he used. You can find this video on badger and blade.com with all his comments on it.

@yaisum It is 7day set Every straight razor is engraved with the day of the week In this case, days are in italian language (Domenica/Sunday, you can see at minute 1,35 ) you can order from this, but is too expensive 3000 euro

Can you tell me why you have more than one razor? I understand that they are beautiful things to collect, but all the ones in your holder seem to be the same. Do they have different blades or something? Very nice video, too.

The video quality does not do this shave justice unless you skip a day. Shaving with a straight is like playing American football without a facebar on your helmet. This is not easy. You have to maintain the sharpness of the blade, maintain the right angle and light pressure so you cut the whiskers and not your skin. The reward is a closer, comfortable shave and for those of us who persevered to learn a feeling of accomplishment and enjoying something that was previously a chore. Chimensch
