There great still using mine in winter got to clean out the ash often. But it keeps the neabors from calling fire department on me all the time lol. My dog Brutus is always finding away to get it the videos lol

I have had the same one for years. I have never used lava rock, sand, or bricks. Just put wood in it and burn. No problems. Seems to me the lava rock, sand and bricks complicate cleaning out the ashes.

Thanks for the video. Been thinking about getting one of these instead of a iron fire pit. Have you done any burns with 3 to 5 wood logs? Have you had any problems with cracking of the clay from the heat? Thanks

Thanks for your comment yes I keep a bag of sand so after cleaning add some sand. This baby is still cranking some heat these South fl chilly nights lol.
