You have to wonder though, anatomically speaking they aren't meant to be walking up right like that because it IS uncomfortable for them. They have much different hip structure from humans that isn't meant to support their weight on their hind legs like that. Can't really draw much of a conclusion from such a short clip, could be an anomaly in an otherwise normal animal. It's not natural though, most of the "show monkeys" you see walking up right are beaten and abused to get them to act that way.
@jumpvelocity39532 ай бұрын

That is an interesting note... and it raises a question to my mind. Now creatures change by tiny mutations over time. If a select, isolated group of chimps entered an area with no other chimps, where bipedalism was optimal, how many generations and how many mutations would it take for their descendants to develop so they could walk around like this for extended periods of time without issue? They'd still be chimps, mind, and I'm sure if they met another group, a bit of interbreeding with them would likely undo the change in most cases, but I wonder how long it would take for a few bodily changes made a noticeable change in how they moved around.

@Rip bozo that makes zero sense. There’s no technicality there. We split off into us, they split off into them from a common ancestor. The other guy already said this. By your definition, you can say chimps evolved from us too at the same time, which is nonsensical

What's the alternative? Walk on their wings?
@ripperkiller22 жыл бұрын
@@nickfikatas190 although some fish use their fins to get around, this would be an alternative, but like ducks, chickens, penguins, etc. so a 'monkey' walks upright, oh! amazing, why wouldn't gorillas walk upright? what would be the alternative, crawling as your legs are not well adapted to walking upright.
@5stargrim2 жыл бұрын
@@nickfikatas190 Actually, to some extent, yes. The hummingbird is incapable of walking, for instance, and gets around 99% by flying or by slow scooting.. their legs just can't walk. Another example being Swifts, as well as kingfishers, then loons and grebes and similar waterfowl that swim, rather than walk.. some birds can walk, sort of, but not really any better than a chicken or emu could fly, so it is what it is with them. Some can stand, but not walk, their bones don't work like that. So of course, many birds spend virtually their entire lives in the water or in the air, with their primary methods of travel being flight and swimming. Bipedal birds are more common, and I'd argue that strategies utilizing flight almost exclusively are just bad evolutionary traits, look at the hummingbird.. but it does happen
