You guys and chimpanzee sanctuary northwest in Washington State are wonderful thank you for giving these animals that have given so much of those lives serving us often held in small concrete cages for 20-30 years sometimes more NEVER seeing the siun or trees or the sky of fresh air or even another chimpanzees places like this to live out the rest of their lives with other chimps being free to finally breathe fresh air in explore outside and have clean and large living facilities. This makes my heart happy and heavy at the same time. How could we, as a nation have allowed our Government to use these beautiful, sentient beings as a test tube,. Kept in deplorable conditions, hidden away like an awful, dirty secret. And from what I have read, no significant medical breakthroughs were made by using them. And the worst part, our tax dollars were being utilized to conduct these unnecessary, inhumane experiments. We must never allow this to go on again!!! Thank you for giving these beings, the love, care and above all freedom they deserve.

The best way to care for these chimps is put an infant male in a room with the Alpha male. Let them get to know each other. After this is done, bring another infant male.keep doing this down the line until the Alpha is familiar with all the male chimps.

Such important work. Unfortunately, sanctuaries like these have major operating costs and they survive off of really tight budgets. If you have some money to spare and you think their work is important, I would ask that people consider donating. You can find the link on their website which allows you to donate and help give these chimps a new lease on life.

Improve their well being and create opportunities for them for what? Are they going on job interviews or trying to get in to Harvard? Such a waste, what difference does it make? This is so wasteful because they aren't capable of giving back what's been invested in them. They are vile nasty creatures, I hope they are. Extinct in my lifetime. kurumais - not sure about the first question but I believe the channel has a handful of videos showing how the chimps are socially integrated into the environment.

Not sure who designs these places but when introducing chimps into these environments it's done slowly, especially introducing them to other chimpanzees it's usually done on a one-on-one basis and then they'll slowly introduce them to the rest of the troop. Some of these chimpanzees have lived in a small cage for 30 years never even seeing another chimpanzee so it's a process but they take care that it's done safely and give the chance plenty of time to get to know each other and in some cases to simply learn how to be a chimpanzee. There's another place it's called chimpanzee sanctuary Northwest it's in Washington State that has a awesome new facility also they have lots of videos the name of the channel is the same, chimpanzee sanctuary Northwest.

Humans need to be more responsible in their choices......I don't use any drugs.....I buy only products "not tested on animals" the use of any innocent creature in labs is totally unnecessary...... I was taught by my mother "god put us on this earth as "guardians" to all creatures....and I try to live by that in all aspects of my life...the older I get the more intolerant of humans behaviour I become....

Yes it’s sad but for the greater of humanity it was a right choice. Before you disagree, but your loving daughter or son in a dying situation and tell me you don’t want a drug developed to save your child. See talk is cheap until you or a loved one is involved. Fortunately to we have advanced and the need for chimps is there as much. Why don’t you fight for the chimp by stopping the mass harvesting of chimps for bushmeat? That’s the real killer. I think more people should have them as pets. Wow, hold on before you chop off my head. They can have a good life and breed to help be introduced into the wild, the offspring. Two unrelated topics which make a false analogy and false dilemma. But if you ask me to compare: Chimps: 2.000.000 , 100 years ago. 200.000 today. Captured alive as babies witnessing the murder of their mothers or breed in captivity, spent 40 years testing medicines and diseases on their bodies. Probably never hurt no one during that time. Asks for nothing but some fruits every day. Vets: voluntarily enlist in an army at 20 for a 5 year job in which handles the most expensive gear in the world and probably kills someone in the name of millionaires. More thousands of millions of this species than 100 years ago. So ask those millionaires, not the people who care about chimps. I will skip the science discussion about how similar they are to us and their experience of living is mostly the same because it's obvious you won't believe it.
