film de Bert Haanstra sobre un grupo de chimpancés en Burgers Dierenpark en Arnhem (Holanda).
Es el mismo grupo que ha estudiado Frans de Waal

I wish we could have the extremely no frills, purely factual information of earlier documentaries, coupled with modern tech and 4k video etc... There's no music, no sound effects added over the top, no gimmicks, its very refreshing.

Omg the 6 year old sister plays pretend mommy with her 3 year old sibling, the 3 year old clinging to the siblings belly as she walks around with her just like a mommy and baby. That’s adorable. It’s fascinating how our behavior is so relatable to theirs. How many little girls play house and imitate their mommy’s ? So awesome.

I have two nieces that are three and two. I've noticed the older one often intently watches how my sister and the youngest interact and then she emulates the same behaviors with her toys. There's probably some evolutionary purpose behind it; maybe the play helps enforce nurturing instincts at young age to prepare them for motherhood?
@taniele84

Big Brother Sounds spot on. It’s gotta be close to the actual reason for the behavior. Especially since it’s seen in primitive species still. Fascinating stuff. You’re nieces must be adorable :)

I loved this video! Not to criticize, but have the care takers ever thought that the chimps want in the trees bc that’s their natural home. Having the shock fence around them to protect the trees is a little backwards to me. Protect the tree, but not the chimp from his natural way of life. Just my thought and I’m sure that since this is an old video they have found a better way.

In such a small enclosure 2.5 acres the Chimps would kill every tree there. In the wild they travel everyday and don't feed off the same tree's. Since they want be returned to the wild its not so important for them to climb.

I've seen this many timers! Very accurate Narration! It's ALL About the Habitat that the Chimps live in that decides how the group will live and act! Chimps are Social Creatures! Just like us Humans. They have 98% of our DNA. If one Observes Chimps in various Habitats and Living Conditions you'll quickly notice many human traits. Dominance, Social Clicks, Displays of Happiness and Anger! Love and Tenderness and Compassion and Empathy that will have you captivated by what you're watching! It hits HOME, because you can Relate to it all! You'll also see Mental Illness in Chimps who live in Horrid conditions! In order for Chimpanzees to be Healthy both Mentally and Physically they NEED HABITAT! They forage and find EVERYTHING they need to Survive! Some THRIVE, such as this group! Reproducing Healthy Offspring and allowing the group and Families in the group to Grow and build Bonds! Chimp Society is very Political! Just like Humans there's need for a Change every so often! Power Struggles and Plots and Schemes are daily occurrences in Chimp Society! While it's the Alpha Male WHO RULES, it's the Females whom ultimately CHOOSE WHO is Alpha! Without the Backing and Acceptance of the Females, even the Strongest of Males will NEVER become Alpha of the group! Just as in Human Society, Alphas whom rule by Terror and Chaos, DON'T LAST! Alphas that Love and Protect the group DO! The FASTEST & EASIEST WAY for anyone interested in SEEING this in LIVING PROOF is to Watch various Chimp videos at several different Zoos! Chimps in as Natural a Habitat to the WILD as possible, THRIVE! Chimps whom live in Filthy, Steel & Concrete enclosures that have NOTHING Natural to a Chimp, simply survive and live a Life of Depression and Misery, full of Mental Anguish! They act EXACTLY like CONVICTS in PENITENTIARIES! Their Personalities Wilt Away and they Morph into Saddened creatures of Monotony! EXACTLY LIKE US HUMANS! NEED FURTHER PROOF? Drive out into any Rural Community, see how mostly everyone is Calm, Happy and Content! Then drive into a city Housing Project Community and JUST OBSERVE! The Results are EXACTLY the SAME for Chimpanzees and Humans according to their Environment and Living Conditions! Like I said in the beginning, IT's ALL ABOUT the HABITAT! 🙂 With a Desire and Determination ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE! Just WATCH Walter! Imagine if he gets some Co-Operation from his Mates! 🙂

Amanda Newman 26 chimps has become a few too many, However maybe the zoo had considered the possible destruction of the few trees that are there. Between eating leaves and sticks, playing and swinging from branches and nest building, the 26 chimps would need much more than 2.5 acres and a dozen or so trees for sustainability both for the forest to regrow and for the animals to continuously eat only the newest greenest growth. Hope this makes sense although I'm not certain the chimps would nest build.

I agree. They could Do Much better. They Hide in the Wild. But in the zoo they want Them to be Seen. So they compromise the needs and confort of the chimps for more money. Chimps become anxious and are more violent. What would be the problem with deliver them fresh leaf wich is the base of their alimentation in the Wild so they dont have to get Them? No... Let's give Them watermelon and zucchinis instead wich we know for a fact that this is no part of their alimentation in the forest. I am an activist and i boycott zoos. Even if those couldnt be Return into the Wild they could be place in a sanctuary. With trees... Real one! Zoos are making so Much Money and majority of Them dont Do enough to save Wild créature. They prefer to put the money back in their "breeding program" wich is another abobination! They are making their own stock of "born captive" chimps. So... They always have one in stock. And they Say that this is for saving the spicies. But those one Who Lives all their lifes in captivity wont have anything to Do with the "original and Free ones". Little By Little the culture (mom teaching how to Do) is no more transmited to Little one. And they dont need cause they cant even sélect their own food. So on 50 years There Will still be chimps... but captives ones Who have nothing to Do with the free ones. Boycott zoos. Give your money to non profit sanctuary Who are pushing for the réintégration into the Wild.

The boredom must have been excruciating! At least give them puzzles to work through for food award. BOREDOM, the poor chimps!

marites lamis God bless u. 💗💗💗🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽my heart breaks when I read ur comment. Bc as a mama I can sense your broken heart. Please know that you did the best you could FOR THEM, your babies you love ❤️. I know it has to hurt inside to not have been able To bond with them during that time but you were struggling and trying to provide for them the best life you could. Please don’t feel bad bc i know that’s easier for someone to say on outside of things but I pray right now that the lord God almighty give you peace in your heart and that your children will know in their heart how much mama sacrifice for them and that she loves them very very much. I was single parent - 1 baby girl and had to work very hard and at odd hours to provide for us and I tried to be present for as much as I could but I had a very hard time to manage caring for us during some of the most stressful times financially without some of that stress I am sure , spilled over where she could sense it bc I felt like while I was present , I was somewhere else at times mentally , worried over how I’m going to do it , to take care of us and i wanted to provide her the best life filled with blessings and be able to give her all she needs. She is now 18 years , Just recently And I am so very proud for her. She will survive in this world and so will your precious babies bc you did work so hard for Them. It’s only sad that when we must work and take role of both mama and daddy , we can not balance everything for them as they Truly deserve ... it is much harder struggle for single parent than two. For me , I had no support from family or friends and if we struggled , it all fell on me. But I do remember the many good fines and try to not let myself feel bad for things I cannot un do or do again differently bc I only had the options I had , you see? So it was all I could do was the best I can. One day ur babies will experience things in life and will understand the sacrifices that you made for them and your loving heart that may not have been able to be present with them as you wanted , but was there with them in all things. I just pray for your heart to have healing and abundance and for Your relationship with ur babies to flourish and thrive so beautifully. I pray if u ever get to have grand baby , that you can be able to enjoy the time and love and attention helping and enjoying playing with and being There for them ! I know That in my heart I feel like all the things i have learned and whether up or Down l was able to gain wisdom along my journey as a parent and when my baby eventually has a child or children , I will be able to give so much love and be there for her and her babies in ways no one was ever there for me or for me and her ! That’s the blessing in it. May your life be filled with continual joy and love and blessings. Sorry for long comment. I may not know u but my heart breaks for you and goes out to you and will continue to lift u up in prayer as often as I can ! There’s no pain greater than the heart breaks of a mama that can’t be with and hold and spend time with her babies. But I pray healing will come for You and that you will be able to have peace and look back on past time with fond memory and that the peace and love of God almighty and Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit will fill you with so much deep love and understanding and compassionate healing so deep and beautiful now and all the days of your life. That hour life will be blessed so greatly ! And I pray you will feel loved and know that sometimes you have to do the best you can and it means making sacrifices that yes , at times do hurt when it means giving up one aspect of something you love in order to fulfill a greater purpose for those you love but that you will feel comforted and at peace knowing everything you have worked hard to do to provide was bc of your love and desire to give your children the best in life. Sending prayers for healing so deep and comforting for you 💗💗🙏🏽🙏🏽

When you see the obvious intelligence these animals have one must realize and conclude that they must not be confined, hunted or captured. They must be protected and respected as intelligent, sentient beings. It is humans who are the problem. We are the ones slow to evolve, slow to see what is in front of our eyes and too arrogant to see the truth that we are not the end all be all of existence in this world.
