Chin State, Myanmar - A Village Not Visited by Foreigners Since the 1930s

Off the beaten track adventures in Myanmar's Chin Hills led us to this incredible mountain village. Featuring a hip hop performance at a wedding, dodgy motorbike rides down dirt tracks, bettel nut chewing and non-conventional forms of Christian worship. Off the beaten path travel.

Due to the village's remote location, development is hard and slow. The nearest hospital is hundreds of miles away, and the villagers are reliant on unhealthy indoor fires. Heart warming to see the very villages of which my Grandad grew up in. My Grandma is the reason why they're Christian, she translated the bible into Daai language. She has unfortunately passed away but im sure if you ask any of them about ' Helga, So - Hartmann ' they will know. She is a celebrity in the Chin State ;)

Hey Mr goodnight, this was before - when Chin State was still a peaceful place :( Here is my statement on the current situation: Chin State, North-western Myanmar, is under brutal and relentless attack from the SAC terrorist army. Innocent people are being murdered by the bloodthirsty junta and houses and churches are being burned to the ground. As the violent coup continues, the terrorist army who have claimed control of the country are choosing Chin State as a particular target for their atrocities. Villages have been invaded and houses looted. Animals are being killed, only for the sake of killing. Innocent people are being robbed, beaten and tortured. Many have been forced to leave their homes and flee to the forest, and many more live in constant fear. 160 homes were torched in Thantlang last Saturday. The SAC are opening fire on innocent civilians without reason, seemingly determined to annihilate communities. Their cruelty knows no bounds. The army is arriving In Chin state en masse, loaded down with heavy duty military equipment. Thousands of foot soldiers, dozens of tanks and fighter planes are being sent to destroy peaceful civilian farming villages. There is no reason for this, and absolutely no justification. The military forces are drunk on power, and have left their humanity long behind. They are determined to make an example of Chin State, and do not care about respecting human rights. It is nothing short of ethnic cleansing. The people of Chin State are at a loss as to how the military can justify such evil actions. We must not stay silent. The situation grows worse by the day, and the people of Chin state have nowhere to turn. They wonder why nobody hears their cries. The international community must do everything they can to show solidarity for Myanmar and fight against this genocide. Everything possible must be done to cut off the SAC’s access to money, fuel, weaponry and ammunition. The illegal military government must not be given any legitimacy. We cannot look the other way. It is our duty as human beings to fight against genocide. We must stand up and speak out for Myanmar, and for Chin State.
