She was so gorgeous and so incredibly talented...it pains me to think about all the horrible things she went through
@WitoldBanasik4 жыл бұрын
Incredibly multi- talented and witty... sure... What's more...She never gave up on her dreams, was proud of her children, MGM career, friends, audience... never regretted anything... She was at times sad about her mother, at times about her husbands' silly ways... But first off as a huge loving persona and grand artist, a classy dame she always started criticizing someone... very rarely indeed... from herself. Hardest working entertainer ever lived and magnificent singer larger than life... the rest is history... Please mind that fame and grand careers always go hand in hand with pain and hardships. Judy simply didn't know... nobody knew those days... that taking sleeping pills might have been fatal... My opinion anyway... RIP... in Heavenly Peace dear Judy !

She was 18/19 years old when this was made. Insane. She was born to perform. I read reviews of her performances when she was under 10 and the reviewers raged about her talent. Her voice cuts through that entire choir of singers like the sharpest knife through hot butter. Awesome.

Though my siblings and I have photos of this movie, my sister just discovered this jewel of a clip! Our Dad, Fred Smith, who is no longer with us was one of the choir boys. Judy Garland was something special, but seeing our Dad’s adorable face in this movie warms our hearts to no end❤ We love you Dad❤❤❤❤

Judy is so beautiful here. I just saw her placed at #36 in a 50 most beautiful actresses of that time. In my book she should be #1 but no less than in the top 10. Talent wise she tops all of them.

This song (wonderfully and powerfully delivered by Judy Garland) from WW2 ties in perfectly our own on going war in present day and has just as much meaning and poignancy right at this minute as it did in 1941. Covid isn't going away any time soon - but we won't give up!

It was a little nudge for a growing American public's acceptance of WWII involvement...England getting bombed nightly, on the edge of Nazi occupation, Churchill doing all he could to get the MIGHTY USA to give Hitler a punch back. Movies back then became a way to sway the public, in the beginning Americans knew very little of how evil Hitler was or was becoming. We just wanted to stay out of "Europe's war" Thank God the right call was made, and credit to Ol Winston for his tenacity & boundless determination

idk but they said from a different song of judy she was a great lip syncher.
@jaytaylor77403 жыл бұрын
Since most if not all movie singing was lip-synced by this point, I imagine she had pre-recorded this. But she had no doubt pre-recorded it *with* the chorus, so she still had to out-sing them.

people calling judy garland "so beautiful" in this and wondering why the studio was so cruel to her completely miss what they're saying. the studio wanted her to look like this. they became cruel when she got off the drugs and ate what she wanted and stopped being slim like this. so saying she's beautiful is exactly what the studio wanted.

@@eddieg2828 ok well if she wasn't starved and was allowed to be comfortable with her body, would people love her so much, or was her suffering to achieve the "standard of beauty" (which lead to her tragically early death) necessary in order to be loved?

@@sannev8407 they forced her to look like this with drugs or else they'd fire her. she died when she was 47 due to a drug overdose. there is something wrong with not acknowledging that this is the studio mandated judy people are praising.
