NATO was not involved in the second war in Iraq, that was the US, UK and several other countries which are not in NATO. NATO did not invade Afghanistan at all but did provide assistance to the Northern Alliance including the use of the airforce. Only after the Taliban were defeated NATO sent troops into Afghanistan to protect the aid workers. There is no doubt that the invasion of Iraq was a massive strategic mistake and the US and UK need to recognise that, but it was not NATO.

@@tamdang8346 Yes it does to a certain extent, the West has in the past tried to stabilise countries through the use of military intervention and they have been very successful in the past. However since the Iraq war the West has become increasingly unwilling to get involved. Just look at Syria and Haiti. Personally I do not think that this is a good thing for those countries, but it is easier for the likes of the US, UK and France as we do not now have to take responsibility for those countries. I do think that this will make the world a lot less stable and the people in those countries will suffer which is a shame. In Iraq and Afghanistan the West tried to establish a democratic system, free of corruption and generate economic growth. In both cases we failed despite our best efforts. The people of those countries are now suffering as a result.
