This outstanding achievement beats the previous record of 7 minutes and 44.881 seconds held by the 2023 Honda Civic Type R. @@Helghast73 Interestingly ALL the Chinese companies buying over the ailing Western companies are NOT allowed to directly tapping into the companies intellectual properties as part of the purchase agreement, which is not the case for the Western companies. In this case Geely may do a "joint venture" company wt Volvo for "R&D".

I think it's probably more on the competition side thing as opposed to being purely politically motivated. Just remember, Microsoft acquired license royalty from SAIC-GM-Wuling and actually included Wuling and MG cars in their recent Forza games. Same with NIO.

Umm nope the Type-R did 7:44 on the full 20.8km while this car did 7:39 BTG which is behind by 1.7km. Even by best estimates this car would only complete a full lap in no less than 8:05. Nice driving tho

You are correct. I am pretty sure the driver didn't say he beat the type-r's record. I am not saying the car is bad but the title of this video is just very misleading to attract views.

This is not a full lap but a so called 'bridge to gantry' which is only 19.1 km in contrast to the full lap which measures 20.832 km. Big dislike from me for the misleading title. The car is top notch nevertheless.

the FL5 was pretty much a mass-produced "stock" car (yes with some clever tweak by honda) but this one has a lot of aftermarket parts. im not sinophobia or glazing on honda but please be wise when making claims.

Not even close to the record. The record you’re comparing too is a dead stock Honda civic with everything stock. Including stock tyres brakes everything. There are a lot quicker modified front wheel drives which is what this car is
