This film from 1952 tours Chinatown in San Francisco, California, the largest Chinese settlement outside the orient. It displays how Chinese culture and heritage are preserved in a largely Chinese neighborhood in the United States of America while incorporating modern American capitalism elements, such as hospitals and banks. The film is a Standard oil company of California presentation, produced by Motion Picture Service Co., San Francisco, narrated by Dick Wynne, with the story by William Thorp, and is photographed and edited by Harold A. Zell.

I grew up in SF in the 60s&70s, always loved the field trips to Chinatown. Living in Hong Kong in the 90s I was told,”…you want to see real China, how Real Chinese live, visit SF Chinatown (Tong yahn Gaai)

As a kid in the 70's, going to Chinatown for fireworks was a right of passage. Long ago days.....

I also grew up in Chinatown in the 1970's.I still have a scar on my jaw from rollerblading and jumping over the cable car trax.TY 4 the memories!😊
