Different level playing field. tt why. If u remove all those rebates/ incentives, back to the same playing field. Consumers will focus back on the maintenance cost/depreciation value. Even hybrid cars have batt ex issues. The cost of ev batt will be much more insane.
You are over simplifying a lot of things. EV cars are cheaper due to govt subsidies. Car sales in China are now in doldrums. Many Chinese EV brands are dying. Long term quality and reliability are a suspect. Don’t underestimate the power of the Europeans, Japanese and Koreans to match and surpass Chinese EVs in the midterm.

I have mentioned about gov subsidy and favourable gov policies. However, the rise of Chinese auto industry is a culmination of multiple factors. I do agree with you on long term quality and reliability, that is why I am hesitant to buy a Chinese EV in Malaysia/UK. To order a part may take few months. But I am still quite impressed with the overall quality of Chinese EV, great quality and features.
Open your eyes and see the world. I am still looking at the current automobile revolution with the same thinking as in the past.China's new energy vehicle industry chain is the most complete in the world. It is difficult for other countries to build a competitive car without China's supply chain. If the Chinese government had not allowed Tesla to build a factory in Shanghai, Tesla might have died long ago.

Toyota announced the establishment of a factory in Shanghai to produce Lexus electric vehicles, which are expected to be launched in 2027. ……and BBA has announced its cooperation with Huawei Intelligent Driving.

Your thinking is still stuck in the electrification stage. China's new energy vehicles have entered the stage of intelligence and connectivity. Next year’s smart driving technology will be even more surprising.Nowadays, Chinese manufacturers of new energy vehicles are ahead of foreign manufacturers in terms of quality, configuration, and intelligence. China's automobile factories are also among the world's leading. Those foreign fuel vehicle factories have long fallen behind.
