This movie has it exactly correct, and is not fantasy. Tye makes 1 honest attempt to follow her brother’s advice and forget about Tony, but her 2 lady friends aren’t having any of it. Her 2 friends where there, saw the 2 of them dance together, and they already know.

Really good movie, I had it on vhs back in the day. In Chicago "Canal" street was the Little Italy neighborhood. The Italian's stuck together and took care of their own. During the 60's, when the African Americans rioted, after the assassination of Martin Luther King, they didn't dare cross over Canal Street into Little Italy! The Italians had tempers and pistols waiting, in case any trouble started! My Grandfather Lorenzo, (RIP) Grandpa, went to my Uncle's School to pick him up because of the rioting and looting! He had two pistols and who knows what else to protect his Family and got my Uncle and Siblings to safety, before the Government declared Marshall Law! Canal street now is watered down and Gentrified, like so many other neighborhoods across the Country! I guess it's the sign of the times! Ciao! Peace!
