Look, just saying The Soviet diplomats knew very well that it was almost certain that their offer to join NATO would be rejected. They also knew it was specifically created to counter them It only had 2 possible endings: 1. USSR joins NATO and there would potentially be peace on the continent 2. USSR is rejected giving them reason and validation to form their own Anti-NATO So either way it was a win win scenario

11:07 I was kind of surprised English speaking people say "Iceberg" instead of 'Icehill' or 'Icemountain', 'cause "berg" is the Dutch word for the English "mountain". The reason why I was so "shocked", was because I'm a native Dutch speaker, and we say "ijsberg"; but hearing someone who speaks English say "berg" was kinda strange :) given that they actually already have a word for that. Anyways, there a lot of other Dutch loanwords in the English language too.

My understanding is that the theory of the Earth being flat was only believed by a small minority of the Roman population, but it was one of the few theories left in the wreckage after the fall of Rome, meaning it was picked up by medieval scientists to translate and Propagate. Also my history professor at college said that the Earth being flat was a rumor spread by the Carthaginians so that the Romans would be too afraid to sail out of the Mediterranean. That way Carthage could enjoy a near monopoly on trade with Britain, Scandinavia, and the west coast of Africa
