Let us be clear, there is no taking back, it would be an invasion. Historically China and particularly the PRC, have never ruled Taiwan. The only legal way that Taiwan can become part of China is if a treaty is officially written, agreed upon and signed by both countries. There are no internationally recognized treaties, policies, agreements or UN resolutions that declare that Taiwan is part of China.
