@@kelvins7879 Word of bad reputation get around fast in this age. It's like if China to say the outside world has 7 billions, 0.1 percent is enough for its foreign tourism. That's not happening at all for many obvious reasons. No matter how big the market size, the bad reputation resulted from the prevalence of bad services or products, people will avoid as there are better alternatives. They want to enjoy their time and hard earned money, why bother putting yourself into such? Building good business reputation is something mainlanders don't understand nor strive for.

Yeah, I watched a vid last week where they were showing restaurants all around China, even expensive restaurants, that are serving frozen meals to folks trying to pass it off as cooked to order, authentic type food. These folks are literally opening frozen meals in the kitchen, throwing it in a dish or microwave, they'll add some bunk sauce to it to try to mask that it's frozen, but yeah...hordes were complaining about the quality of food. Also, many restaurants owners have been choosing to keep expired meats & sides frozen until they can use them. That is just uncalled for...sad really.

In China the tourist industry, and the service industry in general has never been focused on repeat customers or customer loyalty. The idea is, there is always someone else to fill the chair. With a tougher economy, the tourist and restaurant industries are suffering. Their idea of compensating for fewer customers is to raise prices and cheat customers. They couldn't care less about the safety of their customers because there are no repercussions for their behaviour. Chinese tourists are now finding it more difficult to take their business outside of China with travel restrictions and increasing international exposure to their bad behaviour making them less welcomed. One could speculate there is some collusion between the businesses and the government to try to keep Chinese citizens in China to make sure they spend their money domestically and that they don't have the opportunity to decide not to return to China.

One Chinese woman lost her life protecting one of Japanese children. The second incident is the knifing of 4 Americans. These are ones I know about. I am sure there are a few others that did not make the news. There is the incident of a foreign company executive located in China that went on vacation to a country where a certain drug usage was legal. Upon his arrival back to China (no drugs in his possession), he was arrested/detained for 10 days. In that 10 days, there was a hair drug test done that "showed" drug usage. He was deported. In a different line, the amount of Americans going to China for education has seriously fallen from pre-Covid figures. No one will travel to China, because the CCP was behind the submarines cables in the Baltic sea. Today, the Swedish police together with four representatives from EU boarded the Yi Peng 3. Here what the Swedish State media said: Was on board the Chinese ship: "Significant observations" Updated today 13:09, Published today: 12:50 Swedish Time, On Thursday, several countries' authorities boarded the Chinese ship that is being investigated for suspected sabotage of two underwater cables in the Baltic Sea - from the Swedish side, the Police and the Swedish Accident Investigation Board participated. "I think we will have a clearer idea of what has happened," says Jonas Bäckstrand, Deputy Director General of the Accident Investigation Board. A large delegation of government officials from China, Sweden, Germany, Finland and Denmark boarded the ship Yi Peng 3 in the Kattegat on Thursday. Since the ship is in international waters between Sweden and Denmark, the investigation was led by China, which invited the other countries to attend. The Swedish Accident Investigation Board is nevertheless satisfied with what they were allowed to do.

Make no mistake, that stuff will be still going on. At most, they might wait until the clamor dies down and people stop caring. It's the same with the scandal months ago about transport of cooking oil in trucks used to transport other inedible oils without even cleaning the tank after. Hooplah, promises to 'look into it' and 'change things', then business as usual as soon as the spotlight is off.

The Entire Hainan Island tourism industry has been poorly ran and supported by marketing for decades. Is about time people starting to pay attention to Social media about all the rip off and avoid that island completely.

Honestly none of this is not the Chinese government's fault, they don't run the tourism spots or the restaurants. All of this is self inflicted by the Chinese people running these businesses themselves, theres no difference between the east and the west, there will always be exploitative businesses trying to extract every last buck out of their companies before running off with the money. The big problem in China is their people are very opportunistic and prefers to just copy what works instead of striking out on their own. The rare moment when someone takes the risk and successfully establish a business in a new field, suddenly everyone rushes in to try and get a piece of the pie. The sudden saturation almost often just destroys each other and the whole industry, including the person who decide to take the 1st step into the industry.

it must suck to live in a country known for scams and the most affordable vacations are in your country... do they have a better business bureau, consumer protection department, or even yelp to warn others? how do people get away with bad construction and predatory behavior and STILL do business? the more i hear about china the less i believe in the glories of a free market with no restrictive enforcement of anything....which is sort of a libertarian wet dream here (they should live in china and become very wealthy 🙂)

If you’re looking for a safe diving experience with free underwater photos of you and the fish (on your own camera or phone, loaned waterproof pouch), plus free loan goggles and snorkel gear, free ice cream, and refreshments/drinks after the diving session I highly recommend Boracay in the Philippines. The weather is amazing, the water is crystal clear, and the sand is absolutely pristine. The beach bars and restaurants are clean, hygienic, and reasonably priced too. In contrast, my experience in Sanya was disappointing-surly staff, poor service, questionable hygiene, overpriced food, and hidden charges or sudden bill increases really ruined the vibe. Having lived in both countries and holidayed in Sanya and Boracay, I can confidently say the Philippines offers better scenery and way more value for your money. Looking forward to going back in 2025 for a couple of months, On a broader note, I think the decline in Chinese society’s service standards can largely be blamed on the CCP’s influence.
